The airfoil portion has a reference airfoil in which a maximum blade thickness is minimum at a reference position.

A gas turbine engine assembly according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, an endwall having a first material composition, an airfoil extending in a radial direction from the endwall, and a cupped contour of a second material composition that is formed on the endwall to define a cooling chamber, the first material composition different than the second material composition. A method of forming an endwall is also disclosed.

Turbine blade maintenance method

A cleaning process (blasted-particles cleaning process) includes performing, a plural number of consecutive cycles, an ultrasonic cleaning treatment including immersing a turbine rotor blade in a water basin and conducting an ultrasonic wave into the water basin to clean the turbine rotor blade, and a pressurized-water cleaning treatment including spraying pressurized water into an internal cooling flow channel after the ultrasonic cleaning treatment is performed. The cleaning process is performed after a bonding coat layer removing process of removing a bonding coat layer (first coating layer) by chemical treatment, and a cleaning process of cleaning the turbine blade by blast treatment. Heat tinging process is then performed.

Radial turbine rotor with complex cooling channels and method of making same

A turbine rotor includes a base and a plurality of blades. The base and the blades curve such that radially outward portions of the base and the blades extend in a direction with a greater component in a radial direction than in an axial direction. Radially central portions of the base and the blade extend in a direction with the two components being closer. Radially inner sections of the base and the blades extend in a direction with a greater component in the axial direction than in a radial direction. There is a cooling channel arrangement in the turbine rotor. The cooling channel arrangement includes impingement cooling for a nose and serpentine passages for cooling sections of the platform circumferentially intermediate the blades, and distinct serpentine passages for cooling the plurality of blades. A turbomachine and method are also disclosed.

Impingement insert for a turbomachine component, turbomachine component and gas turbine having the same

An impingement insert for an airfoil of a turbomachine component is provided. The insert includes first and second body parts, each having inner and outer surfaces; and first and second contact parts provided on the outer surfaces of the first and the second body parts. The insert includes a flexible mechanical seal part between the body parts. A flow channel for cooling air is defined by the seal part and the inner surfaces of the body parts. One or both of the body parts include impingement holes. The insert has an elastic part connected to the body parts. When the elastic part is subjected to deformation, the elastic part is configured to apply a force, on the first and/or the second body parts, in a direction of increasing a separation between the first contact part and the second contact part.

Cooled airfoil and method of making

In one embodiment, an airfoil includes an airfoil body portion, an airfoil tip portion disposed radially outward of the airfoil body portion, an airfoil root portion, and a plurality of radial cooling passages extending through the airfoil body portion from the root portion to the tip airfoil portion. The airfoil body portion and the airfoil tip portion are joined at a braze interface or a weld interface. The airfoil tip portion includes at least one manifold fluidly connecting at least one radial cooling passage to at least one other radial cooling passage.

Turbine rotor blade, turbine, and tip clearance measurement method

A turbine rotor blade includes: a root portion fixed to a rotor shaft; and an airfoil portion including a pressure surface, a suction surface, and a top surface connecting the pressure surface and the suction surface, with a cooling passage formed inside the airfoil portion. The top surface of the turbine rotor blade includes a leading edge region located on the leading edge side and formed parallel to the rotor shaft, and a trailing edge region adjacent to the leading edge region. The trailing edge region has an inclined surface inclined radially inward toward a trailing edge.
