CMC blade track with integral abradable
A system and method for forming a ceramic matrix composite blade track is provided. The method may include stacking a plurality of first plies to form a first porous preform layer, the first plies including a plurality of first ceramic fibers. The method may further include stacking a plurality of second plies to form a second porous preform layer, the second plies including a plurality of second ceramic fibers. The method may further include combining the first porous preform layer and the second porous preform layer to form a unified porous preform. The method may further include forming a structural layer by infiltrating the first porous preform with a first ceramic matrix material, and forming an abradable layer by infiltrating the second porous preform with a second ceramic matrix material.
Turbine engine stator wall covered in an abradable coating
An annular turbine engine stator portion including a structural support provided in succession with a bonding underlayer and with an abradable coating formed by a resin filled with microbeads, the bonding underlayer for fastening the abradable coating to the structural support being formed by fiber reinforcement made of long fibers having a peripheral portion of the reinforcement that is secured to the structural support and having a central portion thereof that is impregnated with the resin filled with microbeads while the abradable coating is being fastened to the structural support.
Outer Airseal Abradable Rub Strip
A blade outer airseal has a body comprising: an inner diameter (ID) surface; an outer diameter (OD) surface; a leading end; and a trailing end. The airseal body has a metallic substrate and a coating system atop the substrate along at least a portion of the inner diameter surface. At least over a first area of the inner diameter surface, the coating system comprises an abradable layer system comprising a plurality of layers including a relatively erosion-resistant first layer atop a relatively abradable second layer.
SEAL CARRIER FOR A TURBOMACHINE, IN PARTICULAR A GAS TURBINE
A seal carrier for a turbomachine, in particular a gas turbine, including a carrier base and at least one seal member, the at least one seal member being connected to the carrier base, and the at least one seal member being formed by a plurality of cavities arranged adjacent one another, in particular in a regular fashion, in the circumferential direction and the axial direction, the cavities extending from the carrier base in the radial direction, is provided. At least one stiffening element on the carrier base, the stiffening element extending along the circumferential direction and at least partially covering the at least one seal member at one of its axial end regions is provided.
Abradable sealing element
An abradable sealing element comprises a substrate and a sealing structure. The sealing structure comprises one or more wall structures extending from the substrate and defining at least one open cell which is filled with abradable material. The one or more wall structures are formed by additive-layer, powder-fed, laser-weld deposition onto the substrate. The one or more wall structures are formed from nickel-based superalloy and constitute from about 10% to about 50% of the total volume of the sealing structure.
Housing section of a turbine engine compressor stage or turbine engine turbine stage
A housing section of a turbine engine compressor stage or a turbine engine turbine stage that, in particular, has a closed and annular-shaped, radially outer casing. The radially outer casing has radially inwardly extending webs that are angled at a slant relative to the radius.
Blade with abrasive tip
A blade includes an airfoil section extending between leading and trailing edges, first and second opposed sides each joining the leading and trailing edges, and an inner end and a free end. The blade also includes an abrasive tip at the free end of the airfoil section. The abrasive tip includes particles disposed in a matrix material. The matrix material is a polymeric material that has a glass transition temperature greater than or equal to about 225 degrees C. (437 degrees F.). A gas turbine engine and a method of fabricating a blade are also disclosed.
COMPOSITE FAN CASE CONTAINMENT HOOK AND IMPROVED FORWARD DEBRIS CAPTURE
A fan case assembly extend along and around a center axis. The fan case assembly may comprise a barrel extending along and around the center axis, the barrel configured to fasten to a flange of an engine case. The fan case assembly may comprise a fan track liner disposed radially inward of the barrel and a containment hook, wherein the containment hook is a discrete component separate from the barrel. The containment hook may include a front segment configured to fasten to the flange, and an axial segment disposed radially inward of the barrel. The axial segment may extend between the flange and the fan track liner and the front segment may extend radially outward from an end of the axial segment. The containment hook may also include a protruding segment extending radially inward from the axial segment.
System and Method for Manufacture of Abrasive Coating
A component for a gas turbine engine includes an airfoil section including a free end and an abrasive coating sprayed onto the free end, the abrasive coating including a polymer matrix and an abrasive filler, the abraisive filler between about 50%-75% by volume of the abrasive coating.
CMC honeycomb base for abradable coating on CMC BOAS
A method of forming a blade outer air seal includes applying a cavity layer that has a plurality of cavities to a radially inner side of a seal body. The cavity layer is coated with an abradable coating.
