A friction shim is configured to generate a frictional force between a first shim contact surface of the friction shim and a shaft end surface of a driven shaft and a frictional force between a second shim contact surface of the friction shim and an opposing surface of a second rotatable body after installation of a valve timing regulator to the driven shaft. A contact member has a first member contact surface configured to contact the shaft end surface. The contact member is installed to the second rotatable body such that the first member contact surface contacts the shaft end surface before occurrence of contact of the first shim contact surface to the shaft end surface at a time of installing the valve timing regulator to the driven shaft.

CVVT system

The present disclosure provides a CVVT system including: an OCV supplying oil received from a cylinder block into a CVVT; an oil supply unit supplying oil from the OCV to a lock pin; and an actuator selectively opening or closing the oil supply unit such that oil is supplied to the lock pin and the lock pin is separated from a lock pin hole when the oil supply unit is opened.

Unitary composite cam cover and carrier and assembly method

A valve cover module includes a unitary cover and carrier made of a carbon fiber composite. The unitary cover and carrier has a lower side with a peripheral edge for attaching to a cylinder head. The lower side of the unitary cover and carrier also has a series of cavities interconnected with aligned apertures defining bearing surfaces. A plurality of cam lobes is disposed in the series of cavities. Also, the valve cover module includes a camshaft rotatable on the bearing surfaces and extending through the aligned apertures to couple with the cam lobes.

Camshaft assembly for controlling air flow

Methods and systems are provided for reducing air flow to an emission control device during a fuel shut-off event. In one example, a method may include adjusting a timing of an exhaust valve and a timing of an intake valve of a cylinder during the fuel shut-off event using a common actuator. The actuator may include a planetary gear system configured to rotate a first portion of a camshaft in a first direction and a second portion of the camshaft in a second, opposite direction.

CAMSHAFT COMPRISING AN AXIALLY GUIDED SLIDING ELEMENT

A camshaft may include a shaft on which at least one sliding element is received in such a way as to be axially displaceable along a shaft axis. The shaft may comprise an external longitudinal spline structure that meshes with an internal spline structure of a passage in the sliding element such that the sliding element is arranged in a rotationally fixed manner on the shaft. The sliding element, on its axial end faces, may comprise guiding portions by way of which the sliding element is guided on the shaft to minimize an axial offset of the sliding element. Further, guiding sleeves against which the guiding portions of the sliding element are supported may be received on the shaft.
