A rocker arm comprising a supply path that communicates with a first lash bore and a first spool bore. A spool is in the spool bore. A hydraulic lash device is in the first lash bore, wherein an outer body is configured to collapse during a first valve lift profile when receiving a low pressure fluid, and wherein the outer body and the inner body are configured to cooperate rigidly when receiving a high pressure fluid during a second valve lift profile. The spool is movable to a first spool position to align the spool notch with a first spool path and a second spool path, and the spool is movable to a second spool position to align the spool notch with the second spool path and an accumulator path. The supply path in to the rocker arm is the only source of fluid to the spool.

Rocker arm valve mechanism

A valve mechanism system in a hydraulic rocker arm for a combustion engine includes a check valve spring, a check valve ball and a control piston. The spring contacting the ball are arranged in a seat in a recess in the arm. The recess has a first opening to a rocker arm channel connected to a hydraulic element and a second opening to a rocker arm oil supply via a second channel. The piston has a first end with a pin axially aligned with the piston arranged in contact with the ball on the opposite side of the ball from the spring. The ball is movable between a first position allowing oil to flow to and from the oil supply and a second position stopping oil from flowing between the two channels. A control piston spring is arranged on a second end of the piston such that it biases the piston towards the ball. The piston in an axial direction is movably arranged in a cylinder shaped cartridge and the cartridge has a first end arranged towards the outside of the arm and a second end in the axial direction opposite inner end. The cartridge is arranged in the recess in the arm.

A rocker arm assembly includes an engine brake capsule assembly. The engine brake capsule assembly is movable between a retracted position and an extended position to selectively engage a valve bridge to open a first exhaust valve. The engine brake capsule assembly includes an outer housing including a lower chamber and a plunger. The plunger extends out below the outer housing. The engine brake capsule assembly further includes a check ball valve assembly disposed within the lower chamber configured to selectively enable a hydraulic fluid into the lower chamber and an oil channel fluidly coupled to the lower chamber and configured to direct a flow of the hydraulic fluid out of the lower chamber. The engine brake capsule assembly further includes a spool valve configured to selectively block the oil channel.
