RESIDUAL OIL DRAINAGE SYSTEM AND RELATED METHOD FOR REPLACING AN OIL FILTER OF AN ENGINE
20190234260 · 2019-08-01 ·

A residual oil drainage system for use in replacement of the oil filter of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The drainage system may include first and second drainage conduits disposed in the oil pan of the engine. The drainage conduits may be fluidly interconnected and coupled to portions of the oil inlet and outlet flow conduits which normally convey oil to and from the oil filter. A flow control device is movable to either open or close the drainage flowpath in the system. In use with an open flowpath and engine off, residual oil captured by the first and second drainage conduits flows through the drainage system and is returned to the oil reservoir in the oil pan via gravity. In one configuration, the drainage conduits are formed internally and directly within the body of the structure of the oil pan.

FLUID PLUG ASSEMBLY SYSTEM

The present invention discloses a fluid plug assembly system comprising an insert configured to engage with an aperture of a container and a plug configured to engage with the insert. The insert includes a threaded interior and exterior, and a flange portion. A washer is disposed between the plug and the insert.

CONDITION MONITORING POD

Apparatuses are disclosed including an apparatus for machine fluid monitoring or sampling comprising a transparent sight glass attachable to a machine such that machine fluid is transferable to the sight glass. The sight glass may have one or more ports, an open first end, a closed second end, and a cavity for the machine fluid. A grommet may be positioned in a first port of the sight glass and may have a sealable access pathway through the grommet to the cavity within the sight glass through which a probe may be extended. A magnetic plug may be positioned in the second port of the sight glass extending into the cavity within the sight glass such that the magnetic plug is positionable for contact with the machine fluid. A sample port assembly may be connected to the sight glass whereby samples of the machine fluid are accessible.

Self-closing drain plugs with redundant sealing

A drain plug assembly includes a valve body, a removable closure, a poppet, and a resilient member. The valve body has a central bore extending between an inlet and an axially opposite outlet. The bore has a seat arranged between the inlet and outlet. The closure has an unseated and seated position, the closure cooperating with the seat to form an outer seal in the seated position. The poppet is arranged in the bore on a side of the seat opposite the outlet and has open and closed positions, the poppet cooperating with the seat to form an interior seal in the closed position. The resilient member is arranged between the valve body and the poppet for fluidly isolating the inlet from the outlet irrespective of the closure position. A snap ring and locking spline arrange are incorporated to prevent removal of the valve body during service.

Oil Pan Drain Plug with Locking Feature

A drain plug for an engine collection pan has an external screw portion forming a threaded connection with the collection pan and a catch formed on the plug body. A lock ring axially slides on the plug body between a released position in which the lock ring does not interfere with rotation of the plug body relative to the collection pan to release the threaded connection and a locked position connected between the catch on the plug body and an external stop on the collection pan to prevent release of the threaded connection. A retainer on the plug body selectively retains the lock ring in the locked position. The lock ring is a robust structure, resistant to breakage even in colder climates. The axial sliding does not require any tool for application of torque to release the lock ring.

Oil evacuation system and method of use

An oil evacuation system for draining oil from an oil pan includes an oil drain plug configured to threadably engage the oil pan drain hole and having a spring-biased plunger positioned within the throat of the plug bore and configured to selectively seal the plug bore, a safety cap configured for selective threadable engagement with the plug, and an oil drain tool configured for selective operable installation on the plug upon removal of the cap when the plug is installed in the drain hole and oil is to be drained from the oil pan, the tool having an actuator for selective engagement with and displacement of the plug valve plunger to open the plug and the tool and allow oil to flow out of the oil pan.

A drain tube device that includes a first tubular region, a second region and arcuate tubular region interposed between the first tubular region and the second region. In certain embodiments, the arcuate region is contiguously joined to the first tubular and the second region such that the first tubular region and the second region form an acute angle in a first plane that is between 45 and 90. The second region has an end distal to the arcuate tubular region and includes a longitudinal opening defined in at least a portion of the region between the arcuate tubular region and the distal end. In certain embodiments, the arcuate region can also have a configuration that provides an angle located out of the first plane between the first tubular region and the second region that is between zero and 90.
