The forced regeneration process includes a first temperature increase process of controlling the temperature increase unit such that the temperature of the DOC is increased to a first temperature, and a second temperature increase process of controlling the temperature increase unit such that the temperature of the DPF is increased to a second temperature which is higher than the first temperature after completion of the first temperature increase process. The control device includes a valve opening/closing operation execution part configured to cause the exhaust throttle valve to execute a valve opening/closing operation of increasing an opening degree of the exhaust throttle valve to be greater than a predetermined opening degree for a predetermined time, when the forced regeneration process is switched from the first temperature increase process to the second temperature increase process.

CONTROL DEVICE, EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION SYSTEM, AND CONTROL METHOD

A control device is configured to direct an opening degree of a throttle valve disposed in an intake passage or an exhaust passage of an engine including a DOC disposed in the exhaust passage and a DPF disposed downstream of the DOC in the exhaust passage. The control device includes: a hysteresis occurring condition determination unit configured to determine whether a hysteresis occurring condition (predetermined time elapses after instructed opening degree of throttle valve becomes equal to or smaller than predetermined opening degree and/or predetermined time elapses after engine output becomes equal to or smaller than predetermined output) is met; and a hysteresis elimination execution unit configured to cause, if it is determined that the hysteresis occurring condition is met, the throttle valve to execute hysteresis elimination that involves temporarily increasing the opening degree of the throttle valve from the instructed opening degree and then returning it to the instructed opening degree.

DPF REGENERATION CONTROL DEVICE AND DPF REGENERATION CONTROL METHOD

An ECU 10 includes a valve control unit 101 for throttling a valve opening of at least one of an intake throttle valve or an exhaust throttle valve so that an upstream temperature of a DOC reaches a predetermined temperature; and a deposition condition determination unit 105 for determining whether a deposition condition that a SOF deposition amount on the DOC exceeds a predetermined deposition amount is satisfied. The valve control unit 101 includes a throttle amount decrease control execution unit 102 for executing throttle amount decrease control to decrease a throttle amount of the valve opening when the deposition condition is satisfied to be smaller than when the deposition condition is not satisfied.

Engine

An engine promoting DPF regeneration processing is provided. Catalyst activation processing and thereafter DPF regeneration processing are performed under control of a device. In the catalyst activation processing, a target temperature of exhaust at an exhaust exit of a catalyst is set to be in a first temperature region, and then the opening degree of an exhaust throttle device is controlled. In the DPF regeneration processing, the target temperature is set to be in a second temperature region. A target temperature of the exhaust at an exhaust inlet of a DPF is set to be in a third temperature region. The opening degree of the exhaust throttle device is controlled, and unburned fuel is supplied into the exhaust. The temperature regions are set to be successively higher, and a temperature difference between successive temperature regions is set to be successively lower.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR AN AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEM

Methods and systems are provided for an aftertreatment system. In one example, a method comprises regenerating a NO.sub.x trap during an engine shut-down event. The method further comprises reversing a direction of flow of a gas through a HP-EGR passage during the regenerating.

Gasoline particle filter temperature control

Methods and systems are provided for controlling particulate filter temperature during non-combustion conditions. In one example, a method for an engine includes responsive to a particulate filter temperature above a threshold temperature and while operating the engine with deceleration fuel shut-off (DFSO), fully closing a throttle valve configured to regulate flow of intake air to the engine, and responsive to intake manifold pressure dropping below a threshold pressure while the throttle valve is fully closed, adjusting a position of the throttle valve based on the particulate filter temperature.

Method, system and computer-program product for controlling the particulate combustion during the regeneration of a particulate filter of a diesel engine

A diesel engine system includes a diesel engine, an exhaust line, a particulate filter interposed in the exhaust line and an electronic control unit for controlling fuel injectors associated with cylinders of the engine. When an accumulated particulate mass in said filter reaches a predetermined threshold, a filter regeneration mode is activated, including activating post-injections of fuel by controlling said injectors, to determine a start of an automatic filter regeneration step, which is caused by an increase in temperature of exhaust gases fed to the filter. The temperature increase is sufficient to burn particulate in the filter. The post-injections of fuel are deactivated whenever a critical condition occurs for at least a first period of time, the critical condition being one in which a temperature value upstream of the filter exceeds a first threshold value. In this case, the regeneration mode is resumed following disappearance of the critical condition.

Exhaust purification system and control method therefor

An exhaust purification system includes an exhaust after-treatment apparatus which is provided on an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine and which includes catalysts for purifying exhaust gas, a catalyst temperature retention control module for executing a catalyst temperature retention control in which an intake air flow is reduced to thereby suppress a reduction in the temperature of the catalysts when the internal combustion engine is in a motoring state where fuel injection into the internal combustion engine is stopped, and a prohibition module for prohibiting the execution of the catalyst temperature retention control in a case where an activation of an exhaust brake system is detected while the internal combustion engine is in the motoring state.
