20240286726 · 2024-08-29 ·

An embodiment of an exhaust handling system for a marine vessel includes a cap connected to a top end portion of an exhaust stack of the marine vessel to form an enclosure at least partially surrounding an outlet of an exhaust pipe extending through the exhaust stack. In addition, the exhaust handling system includes a collection pipe in fluid communication with the cap such that the collection pipe is to receive exhaust from the enclosure, and a coupling connected to the collection pipe that is to connect to an exhaust cleaning assembly. The exhaust cleaning system includes a tank to receive the exhaust. The cap at least partially defines a first flow path for the exhaust that extends from the enclosure to the atmosphere. The collection pipe at least partially defines a second flow path for the exhaust that extends from the enclosure to the coupling via the collection pipe.

INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INCREASING THE TEMPERATURE IN AT LEAST ONE PART OF THE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE SYSTEM

An internal combustion engine system includes a cylinder block with a plurality of cylinders, a gas intake manifold for providing at least air to the cylinder block and an exhaust gas manifold for exiting the exhaust gas from the cylinder block, wherein the exhaust gas manifold includes at least a main exhaust gas outlet and a waste gate exhaust gas outlet, wherein the main exhaust gas outlet is connected to a main exhaust gas pipe for guiding the exhaust gas to a main exhaust gas after treatment system and the waste gate exhaust gas outlet is connected to a waste gate exhaust gas pipe, and wherein the waste gate exhaust gas pipe is reconnected to the main exhaust gas pipe upstream of the main exhaust gas after treatment system and includes at least one waste gate exhaust gas after treatment unit, such as an oxidation catalyst such as a diesel oxidation catalyst, for catalytically treating the exhaust gas streaming through the waste gate exhaust gas pipe, and to a method for increasing the temperature in an internal combustion engine system.

System and method for exhaust treatment

According to various embodiments, an exhaust treatment system includes a catalyst that is in direct contact with an exhaust stream, at least one sensor that senses a system parameter and produces one or more signals corresponding to the system parameter, and a controller that is configured to receive the one or more signals and control catalyst performance based on the one or more signals by regenerating the catalyst. Regenerating the catalyst includes increasing a temperature of the exhaust stream flowing to the catalyst and directing a reductant injector to adjust a flow rate of reductant being injected into the exhaust stream flowing to the catalyst.
