Exhaust assembly temperature regulation
An exhaust assembly includes an exhaust tube and a coolant passage. The exhaust tube is oriented about an axis and an exhaust gas is configured to flow through the exhaust tube in a direction away from an end of the exhaust tube. The coolant passage is oriented about the axis radially outward of the exhaust tube, the coolant passage having an inner shell and an outer shell. The end of the exhaust tube includes one or more holes permitting exhaust gas to flow around the end of the exhaust tube between an outer wall of the exhaust tube and the inner shell of the coolant passage to regulate a temperature of the inner shell of the coolant passage.
Reactive cyclic induction system and method for reducing pollutants in marine diesel exhaust
A system and method for reduction of Nitrogen Oxide emissions from marine engines by converting Nitrogen Oxide into Nitrogen is disclosed. The modular reactive cyclic induction apparatus connects to the exhaust of a conventional diesel marine engine and uses air pressure and the sodium chloride in seawater to create a molecular reaction to break down Nitrogen Oxide into Nitrogen by use of an induction apparatus. The system can also include a loop for removing Carbon Dioxide through electrolysis, and removes other environmental pollutants as well, including for example Sulphur oxides, hydrocarbons, and particulate matter during the process.
EXHAUST COOLANT SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system includes an engine defining a water jacket fluidly coupled to a heat exchanger. An exhaust manifold defines an exhaust manifold cooling passage. A pump is fluidly coupled to the water jacket, and to each of the heat exchanger and the exhaust manifold cooling passage. An engine cooling circuit includes the water jacket, the heat exchanger, and the pump. An exhaust cooling circuit is selectively fluidly coupled to the engine cooling circuit. The exhaust cooling circuit includes the water jacket, the exhaust manifold cooling passage, and the pump. A control valve includes an inlet fluidly coupled to a first portion of the water jacket. A first outlet is fluidly coupled to a second portion of the water jacket. A second outlet is fluidly coupled to the exhaust cooling circuit. The control valve is structured to selectively control flow of coolant fluid through the second outlet.
CYLINDER HEAD WITH INTEGRATED EXHAUST MANIFOLD
A cylinder head arrangement for an internal combustion engine is provided. The cylinder head includes an integrated exhaust manifold having first and second exhaust passages to collect exhaust gas from respective cylinders to direct the exhaust gas to respective outlets of the cylinder head. The cylinder head includes a flange where the first and second outlets exit the cylinder head for connection with a turbocharger.
Heat shield system and method
An internal combustion engine includes a cylinder case forming a plurality of coolant outlets, and an exhaust log structure disposed on the cylinder case and including inner and outer walls defining a coolant jacket therebetween, a plurality of coolant inlets extending through the outer wall and being fluidly connected to the coolant jacket, and a plurality of transfer housings. Each transfer housing includes an inner housing wall forming a gas passage, an outer housing wall disposed at an offset distance around the inner housing wall such that a cooling passage is defined in a space between the inner and outer housing walls, and a coolant inlet and a coolant outlet in fluid communication with the cooling passage. The plurality of coolant inlets is fluidly connected to the plurality of coolant outlets via the cooling passages in the plurality of transfer housings.
EXHAUST ASSEMBLY TEMPERATURE REGULATION

Fluid-Cooled Manifolds and Engine Systems
A fluid-cooled manifold is configured to cool exhaust from an engine. The fluid-cooled manifold includes a plurality of exhaust runners. Each of the exhaust runners includes a runner body having an inlet end and an outlet end, an exhaust conduit extending through the runner body, and a coolant passage extending through the runner body. The fluid-cooled manifold also includes an exhaust collection manifold including a plurality of inlets. Each inlet of the exhaust collection manifold is coupled to the exhaust outlet opening of a respective one of the exhaust runners. The fluid-cooled manifold also includes a coolant feed pipe and a coolant exit pipe. The coolant feed pipe includes a plurality of outlets coupled to the coolant inlets of the exhaust runners. Likewise, the coolant exit pipe includes a plurality of inlets coupled to the coolant outlets of the exhaust runners.
Cylinder head with integrated exhaust manifold and engine cooling system having the same
A cylinder head with integrated exhaust manifold includes a cylinder head housing, an exhaust manifold, and first, second and third water jackets. The cylinder head housing has a combustion chamber formed in a bottom surface thereof and an internal receiving space. The exhaust manifold is received in the space of the cylinder head housing and is connected to exhaust ports of the cylinder head housing. The first water jacket is received in the space of the cylinder head housing and disposed adjacent to the combustion chamber. The second water jacket is received in the space of the cylinder head housing and disposed to contact a bottom of the exhaust manifold. The third water jacket is received in the space of the cylinder head housing and disposed to contact a top of the exhaust manifold.
Vortex generating apparatus for use with marine exhaust systems for improved exhaust cooling
A vortex generating exhaust component is installed in-line within a marine exhaust system downstream of the water can whereby a mixture of hot exhaust gas and entrained cooling water flows there through and vortex flow is enhanced by the component to increase cooling of exhaust gas by increasing the mixing of hot exhaust gas with entrained cooling water thereby resulting in enhanced exhaust gas cooling.
Exhaust system for a marine outboard engine
An exhaust system for a marine outboard engine including an engine having an engine exhaust port. The exhaust system includes a first exhaust port, a second exhaust port vertically higher than the first exhaust port, a first passage for fluidly connecting to the engine exhaust port and fluidly connected to the first exhaust port, a second passage fluidly connected between the first passage and the second exhaust port, a catalytic converter defining at least in part the second passage, a valve operable to at least partially close the first passage to respectively reduce and increase flow of exhaust gas to the first exhaust port and the second exhaust port, a valve actuator operatively connected to the valve, and a controller operatively connected to the valve actuator for controlling a position of the valve based at least in part on a speed and a throttle request of the engine.
