An exhaust system includes a mixer assembly unit (26a) with a mixer body (48a) with an incoming flow side (58a) and with an outflow side (60a) and with a plate shaped carrier element (24a) with a radially outward carrier element body (44a). The mixer body includes a plurality of flow deflection elements (62a) and a holding area (70a). The carrier element includes a counter-holding area (46a) connected in substance to a holding area. The mixer assembly unit is arranged in a junction area of two tubular exhaust gas guide elements (14a, 16a). The exhaust gas guide elements include flange shaped coupling sections. The carrier element body is arranged between the flange shaped coupling sections of the exhaust gas guide elements. A coupling element engages the flange shaped coupling sections and extends over the coupling sections on axial sides oriented facing away from one another radially inwards.
Exhaust device with noise suppression system
An exhaust device includes a housing, first and second pipes, and a spacer. The first and second pipes are at least partially disposed within the housing. The first and second pipes include respective first and second surfaces. A portion of the second pipe is disposed inside the first pipe. The first and second surfaces cooperate to define an annular volume into which the spacer is disposed to prevent direct communication between the first and second pipes. One of the first and second pipes is fluidly connected to an exhaust gas inlet. The other of the first and second pipes is fluidly connected to an exhaust gas outlet. One of the first and second surfaces defines a radial indentation. The other of the first and second surfaces defines a radial protrusion. The spacer is disposed at least partially within the radial indentation and is in direct communication with the radial protrusion.
IMPROVED AFTER TREATMENT SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE
An after treatment system (ATS) module for a vehicle includes, fluidly connected in series, an inlet, a plurality of chemical reaction modules and an urea mixer module. The chemical reaction modules are arranged to define a substantial quadrangular path of a flow of exhaust gases flowing in the ATS module. The urea mixer module is perpendicular to all the plurality of chemical reaction modules. The ATS module also includes deflector means configured to impart a swirling motion to the flow before flow enters in urea mixer module.
Housing, especially for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle
A housing for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, includes at least two housing shell areas (12, 14) enclosing a housing interior (26) and connected to one another in a connection area (16). A first housing shell area (12) of the two housing shell areas has a first meshing formation (36) in the at least one connection area (16) and a second housing shell area (14) of the two housing shell areas has a second meshing formation (40) that meshes or can be caused to positive-lockingly mesh with the first meshing formation (36). The first meshing formation (36) includes at least one meshing opening (38) and the second meshing formation (40) includes at least one meshing strap (42) meshing with the at least one meshing opening (38) in association with the at least one meshing opening (38) of the first meshing formation (36).
Process for manufacturing an exhaust system
A process for manufacturing an exhaust system, especially for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, includes providing an exhaust gas-guiding component (26) with a wall (38) made of a metallic material and providing a sensor-mounting connector (22), to be fixed at the wall. The sensor-mounting connector includes a sensor-mounting area (28) to be positioned outside the exhaust gas-guiding component, and a connection area (34), which is to be positioned such that the connection area meshes with the wall. The connection area is pressed against an outer surface (40) of the wall of the exhaust gas-guiding component in a fastening area (39) of the wall, and at the same time rotated about a longitudinal axis (A) of the connector to penetrate into the material forming the wall and a connection in substance is established between the metallic material of the wall and the metallic material of the sensor-mounting connector.
Component of an exhaust system and method for manufacturing such a component
A component of an exhaust system for an internal combustion engine comprises a wall in which at least one opening is provided. A perforated cover at least partly closes the at least one opening. The perforated cover is mounted on the wall using a holder, and a portion of the perforated cover engages into an opening provided on the holder. There is also presented an exhaust system comprising such a component, and a method for manufacturing such a component, in which the perforated cover is mounted on the holder by introducing at least one portion of the perforated cover into an opening provided on the holder.
Mixer assembly unit
A mixer assembly unit, especially for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, includes a mixer body (48) with an incoming flow side (58) and with an outgoing flow side (60); and a carrier element (24) with a carrier element body (44) enclosing the mixer body (48) radially on an outside in relation to a mixer longitudinal axis. The mixer body (48) includes a plurality of flow deflection elements (62) and at least one holding area (70). The carrier element (24) includes a counter holding area (46) in association with a holding area (70). The counter holding area (46) is connected in substance to the holding area (70). The counter holding area (46) overlaps the holding area (70) at least partly radially on a side oriented in a direction of the outgoing flow side (60) of the mixer body (48).
Exhaust device and straddle-type vehicle
An exhaust device in which a muffler is disposed on a side of a straddle-type vehicle includes the muffler including a tail pipe configured to discharge exhaust gas and protruding rearward, a tail cover covering a periphery of the tail pipe behind the muffler, and a protector for heat shield interposed between the muffler and the tail cover. Inner sides of the tail cover and the protector in a vehicle width direction are configured to be fixed to each other by a fastening member. An elastic locking portion is formed on an outer side of one of the tail cover and the protector in the vehicle width direction, and a holding portion configured to hold the elastic locking portion is formed on an outer side of another of the tail cover and the protector in the vehicle width direction.
Process for manufacturing an exhaust gas treatment device
A process manufactures an exhaust gas treatment device including a tubular circumferential wall (14) elongated along a longitudinal axis (L) with two axial end areas, an exhaust gas treatment unit (52) arranged in the circumferential wall and a closing element (20, 38) connected to the circumferential wall at the two axial end areas. The exhaust gas treatment unit is held at the circumferential wall by a supporting material layer (54) enclosing the exhaust gas treatment unit and supporting same in relation to the circumferential wall. The process includes arranging a first of the two closing elements at one of the axial end areas of the circumferential wall, pushing the exhaust gas treatment unit enclosed by the supporting material layer into the circumferential wall from the other axial end area (18), and arranging a second of the closing elements at the other axial end area of the circumferential wall.
