Fixing device for exhaust system component and exhaust system

The disclosure provides a fixing device for connecting an exhaust system component to a vehicle body, including: a carrier for attachment to the vehicle body; and an elastomer element connected to the carrier. The elastomer element has a connection recess into which a widened end portion of a holding element of the exhaust system component can be inserted, such that a connection region of the elastomer element defining the connection recess at least partially undercuts the widened end portion of the holding element in a joining direction. A fixing device comprises a stiffening structure stiffening the connection region of the elastomer element to impede an extraction of the widened end portion of the holding element.

A fastening device, fixing an exhaust manifold (12) on a cylinder head (14) of an internal combustion engine, has a contact surface (20) supported relative to a cylinder head contact surface (22). A fastening edge area (16) has a wedge fastening flange area (24) with a fastening element support surface (26) inclined in relation to the contact surface (20) that has a wedge angle (W.sub.1). A fastening element (38) is pressed against the fastening element support surface (26) with a fastening flange support surface (40) with a fastening bolt unit (30) supported in relation to the cylinder head (14). The wedge angle (W.sub.1) and a coefficient of static friction (μ) of the frictional interaction of the fastening element (38) in relation to the exhaust manifold (12) is defined by: 0<W.sub.1<2 tan.sup.−1 (μ), in which W.sub.1 is the wedge angle, and μ if the coefficient of static friction.

The invention relates to a turbocharger flange (200). The flange (200) comprises a mounting face (210) for attaching a turbocharger (100) to a manifold (40), wherein the mounting face (210) comprises a guiding structure (220) for guiding the flange (200) to an operative position in relation to said manifold (40).

Fuel injectors for exhaust heaters

A fuel injector for an exhaust heater includes a cover and an air blast nozzle. The cover has a nozzle seat, a fuel inlet, and an air inlet, the nozzle seat arranged along a flow axis. The air blast nozzle is seated in the nozzle seat and has a unibody. The air blast nozzle unibody is in fluid communication with the fuel inlet and the air inlet arranged along the flow axis to port fuel and air into a combustion volume, e.g., to heat a stream of exhaust gas flowing between an engine and a catalytic reactor by combustion with fuel introduced through the fuel inlet and air introduced through the air inlet.

SYSTEM FOR A COMBINED SPARK ARRESTOR AND MUFFLER ASSEMBLY

Systems and methods are provided for a combined spark arrestor and muffler assembly. In one example, a system may include a combined housing, the combined housing including a spark arrestor portion including a plurality of stator fins, and a muffler portion including acoustic packing, the muffler portion fluidically coupled to the spark arrestor portion via a first sliding joint and a second sliding joint. In this way, a single component of a vehicle exhaust system may reduce sparks and/or carbon deposits in exhaust gas, while also reducing exhaust noise.

DUAL FUNCTION MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY INCORPORATING A DETACHABLE CATALYTIC CONVERTER
20210404369 · 2021-12-30 · ·

A replacement kit for use with a motor vehicle that was originally equipped with an exhaust system including an exhaust manifold and a catalytic converter welded thereto. The replacement kit includes a replacement catalytic converter arranged for use during use of the motor vehicle on public roads. Rather than welding, the replacement catalytic converter attaches to the exhaust manifold using a clamp to form a gas-tight seal. The clamp is arranged to move from the closed position to an open position to enable disengagement of the replacement catalytic converter from the exhaust manifold and substitution of a bypass pipe in place of the replacement catalytic converter to increase performance characteristics of the vehicle during off-road use.

Exhaust manifold clamp for the manifold-cylinder head joint

Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for clamping an exhaust manifold to a cylinder head with at least one clamp that is configured to allow thermal expansion and movement of the exhaust manifold while preventing exhaust leaks through the exhaust manifold and cylinder head connection.

Engine

An engine that suppresses damage on a support mechanism of a diesel particulate filter (DPF) due to vibration in the pitch direction, in which the DPF, which purifies exhaust gas from an exhaust manifold, is disposed in an orientation orthogonal or approximately orthogonal to a rotational axis of a crankshaft in a plan view. A support mechanism is provided, which enables a cylinder head, an intake manifold, and an intake collector to support the DPF. The support mechanism includes a first support position in which the cylinder head supports the DPF, a second support position in which the intake manifold supports the DPF, and a third support position in which the intake collector supports the DPF. The third support position deviates from the first support position and the second support position in a direction of the rotational axis of the crankshaft.

Electric heating type support and exhaust gas purifying device

An electric heating support includes a honeycomb structure having an outer peripheral wall and interior porous partition walls defining a plurality of cells forming a flow path. A pair of electrode layers are disposed on a surface of the outer peripheral wall so as to face each other across a central axis of the honeycomb structure. Protective layers cover the electrode layers, respectively, such that at least a part of each electrode layer is exposed. A pair of metal terminals are provided on the electrode layers. Each electrode layer is composed of a metal-ceramic mixed member. A portion of each electrode layer that is exposed from the protective layer is electrically connected to each of the pair of metal terminals.
