APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REGULATING AND INJECTING GASEOUS FUEL INTO AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An apparatus includes a pressure regulator, an in-cylinder fuel injector and a controller programmed to, when fueling with a first gaseous fuel, command the regulator to regulate the pressure of the first gaseous fuel to a first injection pressure; and command the injector to inject within 90 CA of TDC during a compression stroke an injected quantity of a first gaseous fuel into the combustion chamber at the first injection pressure, and when fueling with a second gaseous fuel, to command the regulator to regulate the pressure of the second gaseous fuel to a second injection pressure; and command the injector to inject within 90 CA of TDC during the compression stroke an injected quantity of a second injected gaseous fuel.
Method and apparatus for using biofuels in engines having emission control systems
Internal combustion engines, including diesel engines, can safely and efficiently operate using alternative fuels by ensuring the emissions system always performs the regeneration process using an appropriate fuel. An electronic control unit that communicates with the fuel delivery system and the emissions control system of an engine inhibits the regeneration activity until an appropriate fuel is present, waits until the regeneration event is completed and then directs the engine to continue operation with the alternative fuel.

VEHICLE SENSING AND CONTROL ASSEMBLY, VEHICLE, FUELING EQUIPMENT AND METHOD FOR OPERATING THE SAME
A vehicle sensing and control assembly includes a sensing system with at least one infrared sensor. The sensing system determines, using data from the at least one infrared sensor, a measure of a concentration of at least one non-hydrocarbon impurity in the biogas. The assembly further includes a control system configured to control a user communication system, based on said measure, to communicate information relevant to the at least one non-hydrocarbon impurity in the biogas to a user of the vehicle; and/or to generate a control signal for adjusting a configuration of the engine. Additionally provided is a fueling assembly with fueling equipment for delivering biogas into a vehicle storage tank assembly of a vehicle, and the vehicle sensing and control assembly. Further provided is a method and a related computer program for operating a vehicle having a combustion engine configured to enable biogas to be used as fuel.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REGULATING AND INJECTING GASEOUS FUEL INTO AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A method of regulating and injecting a gaseous fuel in an internal combustion engine includes regulating a pressure of the gaseous fuel to an injection pressure at an engine load and an engine speed; and injecting within 90 crank angle degrees of top dead center during a compression stroke of the internal combustion engine an injected quantity of the gaseous fuel into a combustion chamber at the injection pressure; where the gaseous fuel comprises hydrogen; where the injection pressure equals a product of a peak cylinder pressure multiplied by a multiplication factor, the multiplication factor within a range of 1.15 and 1.4; and where the injected quantity of the gaseous fuel is burned in a diffusion combustion mode.
