Hydraulically actuated gaseous fuel injector

Hydraulically actuated gaseous fuel injectors required a relatively small pressure bias between hydraulic fluid and gaseous fuel to be able to open and to reduce hydraulic fluid contamination of the gaseous fuel. An improved hydraulically actuated gaseous fuel injector includes an injection valve in fluid communication with a gaseous fuel inlet and includes a valve member reciprocatable within a fuel injector body between a closed position and an open position. There is a lift chamber in fluid communication with a hydraulic fluid inlet such that hydraulic fluid pressure in the lift chamber contributes to an opening force applied to the valve member. A control chamber is in fluid communication with the hydraulic fluid inlet such that hydraulic fluid pressure in the control chamber contributes to a closing force applied to the valve member. A control valve is operable to reduce hydraulic fluid pressure in the control chamber such that the opening force is greater than the closing force and the valve member moves to the open position.

FUEL INJECTOR FOR ON-DEMAND MULTI-FUEL INJECTION

A fuel injector has means to directly inject one type of fuel or two types of fuels collectively with fuel ratios on demand. Once being used as a single fuel injector, the injector can enable injection rate shaping. Once being used as a dual fuel injector, the injector can tailor fuel properties on demand. The fuel injector has the capability to enable tailored chemical and thermal-physical fuel properties to enable high efficiency clean combustion for different engine loads and speeds.

DUAL FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM FOR OPTIMIZING FUEL USAGE AND MINIMIZING SLIP FOR DIESEL ENGINES
20210108556 · 2021-04-15 ·

The invention involves a system and method for providing a liquid fuel or a liquid and gaseous fuel to a diesel or Otto cycle engine for operation of the engine. The system includes a primary electronic control module (ECM), which monitors engine sensors and contains a first three-dimensional fuel map for the liquid fuel. A second ECM is connected for bi-directional transfer of information to the first ECM, the second ECM contains a second three-dimensional fuel map for delivery of the gaseous fuel through a secondary gaseous fuel injection assembly. The bi-directional communication between the two ECMs while monitoring the engine sensors allows both ECMs to “learn” an efficient fuel map for delivery of both fuels in the same cycle for improved efficiency, reduction in slip and lower emissions.

Injector arrangement for diesel engines using slurry or emulsion fuels

The present invention relates to a fuel injection arrangement for a diesel type engine configured to use carbonaceous aqueous slurry fuels. The fuel injection arrangement includes an injector nozzle for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber; a pump chamber housing a fuel pumping element for generating a pressurised fuel flow to the injector nozzle along an injection path between the pumping element and the injector nozzle; and a check valve connected to a fuel supply for regulating and supplying fuel to the injection path via a check valve outlet. A region immediately downstream of the check valve outlet defines an outlet region and the check valve is arranged to expose the outlet region to the pressurised fuel flow to facilitate flushing of the outlet region during fuel flow between the pumping element and the injector nozzle.
