EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION CONTROL IN AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A system and method of integrating an engine having dynamic skip fire control with an exhaust gas recirculation system in a turbocharged internal combustion engine is described. An engine control system determines an appropriate firing pattern based at least in part on a desired exhaust gas recirculation flow rate. Signals from sensors in the intake manifold and exhaust system may also be used as part of a feedback loop to determine a desired exhaust gas recirculation flow rate.
Air intake amount measurement device and engine
An air intake amount measurement device 200 includes an intake distributor 3 distributing intake air CYL to cylinders 11, 12, 13, and 14, a temperature detector 202 detecting a temperature Ti of the intake air CYL, a pressure detector 201 for detecting a pressure Pi of intake air CL, and a computing unit 100 that computes an air intake amount mfcyl of the intake air CYL on the basis of the temperature Ti transmitted from the temperature detector 202 and the pressure Pi transmitted from the pressure detector 201. The temperature detector 202 detects the temperature Ti of the intake air CYL at a region W spanning, out of an inside of the intake distributor 3, a first branch portion 31 and a second branch portion 32.
Vehicle power plant control apparatus
The purpose of the present invention is to prevent disturbance in the behavior of a power plant at the time of switching a controller in a vehicle power plant whose operation is controlled by manipulation of a plurality of actuators by the controller. In order to achieve the purpose, a vehicle power plant control apparatus provided by the present invention is configured as a target value tracking controller in which at least one controller calculates the amount of manipulation of the actuators according to an equation including an integrator for integrating a deviation between a state quantity and a target value thereof such that each of a plurality of state quantities of the power plant can track the corresponding target value. When the controller used for manipulating the actuators is switched from another controller to the target value tracking controller, the initial value of the integrator is inversely calculated such that, in a state equation of a plant model for the power plant with the state quantity as a state vector and the amount of manipulation as an input vector, a differential immediately before the switching of the state vector agrees with a differential immediately after the switching.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO MINIMIZE EMISSIONS SPIKES WHEN REACTIVATING OR DEACTIVATING A COMBUSTION CYLINDER
Systems and methods for mitigating exhaust gas emissions via cylinder deactivation are provided. A system includes a controller coupled to an internal combustion engine and an electric motive device. The controller includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instruction that, when executed by the processor, cause the controller to: receive a power request less than a current power output from the internal combustion engine; command the electric motive device to provide a supplemental power output based on the received power request; command the internal combustion engine to operate in a cylinder deactivation mode whereby at least one cylinder of a plurality of cylinders of the internal combustion engine is deactivated; responsive to determining that a power output of the internal combustion engine is substantially equivalent to the power request after commanding the internal combustion engine to operate in the cylinder deactivation mode, deactivate the electric motive device.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR OPERATING AN ENGINE
Methods and systems are provided for coordinating operation of a high pressure EGR control loop with a boost pressure control loop. In one example, following a tip-in, turbine vane position may be adjusted as a function of a maximum permissible exhaust pressure upstream of a turbocharger turbine. The maximum permissible exhaust pressure may be determined as a function of a HP EGR valve position at the time of the tip-in.
ONLINE MONITORING AND DIAGNOSTICS IN VEHICLE POWERTRAINS
Methods and systems for calculating a plurality of aging factors in a system operating an engine. The calculated aging factors may include one or more of fuel injector drift, exhaust gas recirculation valve obstruction, and mass air flow sensor bias. Mass flow throughout the system, and pressures and temperatures within the system, are observed in an approach that relies on mass preservation concepts to estimate fuel injector drift, exhaust gas recirculation valve obstruction, and mass air flow sensor bias.
Internal combustion engine system, comprising an internal combustion engine and an exhaust gas recirculation circuit
An internal combustion engine system including an internal combustion engine and an exhaust gas recirculation circuit connecting an exhaust manifold of the engine to an intake manifold of the engine, the circuit including at least one reed valve, an EGR valve, that is arranged downstream of the reed valve on the path of exhaust gas flowing from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold and an EGR line connecting the reed valve to the EGR valve. The system further includes a bypass line for gas, connecting the EGR line to an exhaust line of the engine and controller for controlling the flow of gas discharged through the bypass line.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR TRANSMITTING A SENSOR SIGNAL
A method and a system for transmitting a sensor signal, transmits the sensor signal in such a way that the analog electrical sensor signal is converted with the aid of a system for signal conversion into a converted signal and that this converted signal is transmitted to a control unit. As a result, the sensor signal is able to be transmitted to the control unit in a reliable manner and be evaluated thereby.
Engine Control Device
The present invention suppresses the worsening of stability due to a variation in EGR amounts between cylinders in a spark ignition engine. An engine control device for controlling a spark ignition engine equipped with an EGR means for recirculating exhaust gas in a combustion chamber and an air-fuel-ratio detection means for detecting the air-fuel ratio in each cylinder, the engine control device being characterized by being equipped with a means for changing the parameters for ignition control of a rich cylinder, when the air-fuel ratio of cylinders varies and there are richer cylinders and leaner cylinders relative to a prescribed air-fuel ratio during the execution of exhaust gas recirculation by the EGR means.
Engine Control Device
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an engine control device with which it is possible to minimize decreases in combustion speed even when the EGR rate has been increased. The present invention is an engine control device for: controlling an engine provided with an injector for injecting fuel directly into a cylinder, an ignition device for igniting the injected fuel, and an EGR means capable of recycling combustion gas and varying the EGR rate of the recycling combustion gas; and commanding the injector to perform multiple injections during one cycle, wherein a command is given to perform a control for increasing the injection quantity per compression stroke relative to the total injection quantity in one cycle so that the injection quantity per compression stroke is greater when the EGR rate is high than when the EGR rate is low, and/or a control for increasing the number of injections per compression stroke relative to the total number of injections in one cycle so that the number of injections per compression stroke is greater when the EGR rate is high than when the EGR rate is low.
