ENGINE SYSTEM
An engine system provided to a vehicle having an accelerator pedal is provided. When an engine operation range is determined to shift to a first range (where an electromagnetic clutch is disengaged) from a second range (where the clutch is engaged) after an opening of the accelerator pedal increases at a rate below a given reference rate, the clutch is switched from ON to OFF after a given basic stand-by period passes from the shift. When the engine operation range is determined to shift from the second range to the first range after the accelerator pedal opening increases at the given reference rate or above, the clutch is switched from ON to OFF after a given acceleration stand-by period (longer than the basic stand-by period by a given added period) passes from the shift.
Control system of fuel injection for an internal combustion engine provided with a line of fuel return
Electronic fuel injection control system for an internal combustion engine, the internal combustion engine being equipped with at least one fuel feeding line provided with a fuel tank, at least one throttle valve, at least one injector, at least one fuel pump, at least one fuel return line having at least one solenoid valve, at least one first fuel return duct that connects the injector to the solenoid valve, at least one overpressure valve, at least one second return conduit adapted to connect the overpressure valve and the solenoid valve with the tank, wherein the fuel return line is provided with at least one calibrator allowing at least the state of said fuel pump and relative performances thereof to be verified.
EXHAUST CATALYST LIGHT-OFF IN AN OPPOSED-PISTON ENGINE
In an opposed-piston engine which includes a catalytic aftertreatment device in its exhaust system an exhaust gas condition indicating a catalyst temperature of the aftertreatment device is monitored. When the catalyst temperature is near or below a light-off temperature, a catalyst light-off procedure is executed to elevate the temperature of the catalyst.
PRESSURIZED AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM
Methods are provided for engines. In one example method, at higher engine load, cool compressed air is drawn into an engine via an air intake passage, and at lower engine load, ambient air is drawn into the engine via a duct while retaining cooled compressed air in the air intake passage. The compressed air may be released from the air intake passage based on heat transferred to the compressed air during the lower engine load, in at least one example.
Predictive road speed governor
Engine control modules as well as methods and systems implementable in a vehicle are disclosed, in which the engine control module includes a processing unit operative to control a target vehicle speed. The processing unit receives current status information and lookahead information regarding a route to be taken by the vehicle, performs a lookahead power requirement calculation based on the current status information and the lookahead information to determine an event, calculates a plurality of offsets with respect to an isochronous speed of the vehicle based on the determined event, and sets a target vehicle speed curve by applying the plurality of offsets to the isochroous speed.
Hybrid vehicle control with rate-limited energy management torque
A system and method for controlling a hybrid vehicle having an engine and a traction motor include operating the engine at an operating point selected based on system efficiency, operating the electric machine to provide an electric machine torque responsive to a difference between a driver demand torque and the engine torque associated with the operating point, and limiting a rate of change of the electric machine torque in response to a rate of change of the driver demand torque. The electric machine torque rate limit may vary continuously responsive to the rate of change of driver demand torque and whether the driver demand torque is increasing or decreasing.
Method and Device for Inspecting the Functionality of a Crankcase Ventilation System of an Internal Combustion Engine
The disclosure relates to a method and a device for checking the functionality of a crankcase ventilation system of an internal combustion engine. The crankcase ventilation system includes two crankcase ventilation lines arranged between a crankcase outlet of a crankcase and an associated introduction point into an air path of the internal combustion engine, via which crankcase ventilation lines gas can be introduced from the crankcase into the air path. The method includes measuring a pressure in the crankcase, supplying the measured pressure values to a control unit, and calculating the gradient of the measured pressure. The method also includes performing a gradient check, checking whether the gradient satisfies a specified criterion, and returning to the measurement of the pressure if the gradient satisfies the specified criterion. The method also includes recording an entry in a fault memory if the gradient does not satisfy the specified criterion.
Method of operating an internal combustion engine
The present invention discloses a method of operating an internal combustion engine comprising a controllable injector for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber, the injector communicating with a fuel accumulator through which it is supplied with fuel, the method comprising the following steps: determining a first pressure value of the pressure in the fuel accumulator on the basis of a first pressure measurement, determining a second pressure value of the pressure in the fuel accumulator on the basis of a second pressure measurement carried out after the first pressure measurement, and determining an injector opening duration depending on the first and the second pressure value.
