PRE-COMPRESSOR VALVE EQUIPPED LOW PRESSURE COOLED EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION TRACKING ERROR MANAGEMENT
Engine low pressure cooled exhaust gas recirculation (LPCEGR) control techniques comprise receiving a measured position of an accelerator pedal and, based on this measurement, detecting a transient tip-out event or a transient tip-in event. In response to detecting the transient tip-out event, an EGR depletion rate is temporarily increased by at least one of (i) downstream throttle valve control to maintain at least a minimum engine airflow or to regulate a rate of decrease of the airflow into the engine, (ii) cylinder bank fuel shutoff, and (iii) pre-scheduled EGR valve control based on the measured accelerator pedal position. In response to detecting the transient tip-in event, an EGR delivery rate is temporarily increased by at least one of (i) the pre-scheduled EGR valve control and (ii) controlling intake/exhaust valves of cylinders of the engine to enable a scavenging mode.
VEHICLE
When controlling a driving source torque in order to accelerate a driving wheel, a driving source torque controller performs shock suppression control of controlling the driving source torque based on an acquired driving source torque so that at least one of (i) an absolute value of relative speed between power transmission members on a power transmission path decreases when backlash between the power transmission members decreases or (ii) a transmission torque which is transmitted between the power transmission members on the power transmission path decreases when the backlash between the power transmission members is eliminated.
TECHNIQUES FOR TRANSIENT ESTIMATION AND COMPENSATION OF CONTROL PARAMETERS FOR DEDICATED EGR ENGINES
One embodiment is a system comprising an engine including a dedicated EGR cylinder configured to provide EGR to the engine via an EGR loop, a non-dedicated cylinder, a plurality of injectors, an ignition system including a plurality of spark plugs, an intake throttle, and an electronic control system. The electronic control system is configured to control combustion during transient operation of the engine by determining one or more combustion control parameters compensating for variation of one or more of inert matter, unburned air and unburned fuel in EGR output by the dedicated EGR cylinder during transient operation of the engine, and an effect of the EGR loop on inert matter, unburned air and unburned fuel provided to the plurality of cylinders, and controlling operation of at least one of the throttle, the ignition system and the plurality of injectors in response to at least one of the one or more combustion control parameters.
Arrangement with rotating drive machine and operating method
A method of operating an arrangement includes using a rotating drive machine, wherein a value characteristic of a change of a power output of the arrangement is provided by measuring at least one parameter and/or calculation. The rotating drive machine is open and/or closed loop controlled depending on the value characteristic of the change of the power output of the arrangement and/or a load of the rotating drive machine is changed depending on the value characteristic of the change of the power output of the arrangement, such that the change of the power output of the arrangement is substantially compensated.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETECTING ENGINE KNOCK DURING TRANSIENT CONDITIONS
Methods and systems are disclosed for operating an engine that includes a knock control system that may determine contributions of individual transient and steady-state noise sources to an engine background noise level. The contributions of the transient and steady-state individual noise sources may be the basis for establishing the presence or absence of knock in one or more engine cylinders.
Torque modulation for internal combustion engine
A method and apparatus for continually and rapidly adjusting the output torque of an engine according to a torque demand uses an active tappet to vary the instant air charge in a combustion chamber. The invention allows substantially efficient combustion throughout the engine operating map. Various methods of changing the charge of air are disclosed.
Pressurized air induction system
Methods and systems are provided for boosted engine systems. In one example, a system may include a pressurized air induction system with two pathways, the first for delivering ambient and the second for delivering boosted air to the engine. The pressurized air induction system is also adapted to store boosted air for faster supply of boost pressure in the event of demand for greater engine torque.
VEHICLE CONTROL APPARATUS
A vehicle control apparatus includes input-side and output-side rotating elements, a fuel injection controller, and an ignition timing controller. The ignition timing controller controls ignition timing of an engine to first timing on the condition that the engine is controlled from a fuel cut state to a fuel injection state, and afterwards, changes the ignition timing to second timing on advance side of the first timing. The ignition timing controller changes the ignition timing toward the second timing at a first change rate until a rotational acceleration rate of the output-side rotating element reaches a threshold. After the rotational acceleration rate of the output-side rotating element reaches the threshold, the ignition timing controller changes the ignition timing toward the second timing at a second change rate greater than the first change rate.
Control device for engine
A control device for controlling an engine based on an operating state of a vehicle is provided. The control device includes a processor configured to execute a basic target torque determining module for determining a basic target torque based on an operating state of the vehicle, a torque reduction amount determining module for determining a torque reduction amount based on a part of the operating state of the vehicle, a final target torque determining module for determining a final target torque based on the basic target torque and the torque reduction amount, an engine controlling module for controlling the engine to output the final target torque, and a torque change smoothing module for smoothing a chronological change of the final target torque corresponding to the torque reduction amount at a smaller smoothing degree than that of the chronological change of the final target torque corresponding to the basic target torque.
