Fuel injection apparatus for internal combustion engine

Fuel in a fuel tank is supplied by a low-pressure pump to intake passage injectors mounted on an intake manifold via a low-pressure fuel supply pipe and a low-pressure fuel distribution pipe. A high-pressure pump is provided on the low-pressure fuel supply pipe. The pressure of the fuel is boosted by the high-pressure pump, and then is supplied to in-cylinder injectors via a high-pressure fuel distribution pipe. In an intake passage injection (MPI) mode, excitation of a solenoid is stopped and operation of an electromagnetic spill valve is stopped so as reduce vibration and noise caused by the seating of the electromagnetic spill valve in a valve seat.

Port-direct injection engine methods and systems optimizing fuel economy with particulate control

Methods and systems for optimizing fuel economy and maintaining particulate emissions below a threshold of an engine system in a vehicle. An engine system has port fuel injection, direct injection, variable compression ratio, and independent compression/expansion. A processor predicts settings for the four systems that optimize for a fuel economy that is maximized. A particulate rate of the engine system is computed based on the settings. A determination is made of whether the particulate rate is below a threshold. When the particulate rate is below the threshold, command signals are delivered to actuators of the systems to move to the settings. When the threshold is exceeded, the settings are revised to maintain the particulate below the threshold while optimizing for fuel economy.

Supercharging system
11499488 · 2022-11-15 · ·

A supercharging system to be mounted in a vehicle including an engine, a driving operator, and an electric power storage unit includes an exhaust turbine, an intake compressor, an electric power converter, and a controller. The exhaust turbine generates electric power. The intake compressor feeds compressed intake air to the engine. The electric power converter supplies electric power from the electric power storage unit and recovers electric power to the electric power storage unit via an electric power path between the exhaust turbine and the intake compressor. The controller acquires a target value of compression power of the intake compressor, based on an operation of the driving operator and an operating state of the engine, and controls the electric power converter such that electric power corresponding to a difference between the acquired target value and the generated electric power is supplied from or recovered to the electric power storage unit.

Method for diagnosing fuel leakage of a vehicle

A method for diagnosing fuel leakage of a vehicle includes: measuring a pressure of a fuel tank by a pressure sensor in a closed state of a fuel system during starting-off of the vehicle; measuring an inner temperature of the fuel tank by a temperature sensor; and diagnosing, by a controller, whether or not leakage occurs by performing different leakage diagnoses depending on a pressure condition of the fuel tank. Thus, the controller performs a first leakage diagnosis when a pressure value of the fuel tank, measured in the measuring the pressure of the fuel tank, is within an atmospheric pressure level; performs a second leakage diagnosis when the pressure value is higher than a positive pressure; and performs a third leakage diagnosis when the pressure value is lower than a negative pressure.

State detection system for internal combustion engine, data analysis device, and vehicle

A state detection system for an internal combustion engine is provided. Rotation waveform variables include information on a difference between cylinders in the rotational speed of a crankshaft during periods in which the respective cylinders generate combustion torque. An obtainment process obtains a value of the rotation waveform variables and a value of a road surface state variable based on an output of a sensor that detects a state of the road surface. A selection process selects, from a plurality of types of mapping data stored in the storage device, the mapping data that is associated with the road surface state variable as the detection mapping. A determination process determines whether the engine is in a predetermined operating state based on an output value of the selected detection mapping that takes the rotation waveform variables as inputs.
