DETERMINING A DRIFT IN THE FUEL STATIC FLOW RATE OF A PIEZOELECTRIC INJECTOR OF A MOTOR VEHICLE HEAT ENGINE
The disclosure relates to a method for determining a drift in the static fuel flow rate of a piezoelectric injector of a motor vehicle combustion engine. The method relies on fluid-pressure measurements carried out in the injector supply chamber in order to calculate a measured static flow rate value. This value is compared against a nominal static flow rate in order to determine the existence, if any, and amplitude of the drift in the static flow rate. Furthermore, each pressure measurement is carried out when the valve of the injector is closed and the injector is open. In this way, the measured static flow rate calculation is not influenced by pressure-variation effects not relevant to the measurement.
CONTROLLER FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, CONTROL METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, AND MEMORY MEDIUM
A controller and a control method for an internal combustion engine, and a memory medium are provided. In a first combustion cylinder, first combustion is caused by control circuitry when the engine is restarted from a state where fuel combustion in cylinders is suspended. An automatic stopping process suspends the fuel combustion in the cylinders and controls a throttle valve to a closed state when a predetermined condition is satisfied. A first calculation process calculates an amount of fuel injected into the first combustion cylinder based on a position of the piston in the first combustion cylinder in a case where a rotation speed of a crankshaft obtained when the restart was requested is zero. A second calculation process calculates the injection amount based on the rotation speed in a case where the rotation speed obtained when the restart was requested is higher than zero.
Methods and systems for improving fuel injection repeatability
Methods and systems are provided for balancing a plurality of fuel injectors. In one example, a method includes determining a fuel injector error shape and applying a fueling correction to all injectors based on the fuel injector error shape.
IO integration of an electronic control unit
A system and method for an electronic control unit adapter used to supplement existing electronic control units for enhanced or additional IO integration, the electronic control unit adapter designed to be updated easily by the end user in order to add functionality as it is developed thus prolonging the viability of an electronic control unit or vehicle, the electronic control unit adapter usable in conjunction with a vehicle or other vessel using an internal combustion engine or similar technology.
Fuel Control System
A fuel control system obtains a measured amount of fuel consumed by an engine and one or more corresponding operating parameters of the engine and determines a fuel consumption modeled amount based at least in part on a fuel consumption model of the engine and the one or more operating parameters. The fuel consumption model associates different amounts of fuel that, when supplied to the engine, generate corresponding designated outputs of the engine. The system also determines one or more differentials between the measured amount of fuel and the modeled amount and, responsive to the one or more of the differentials exceeding a threshold value, the system identifies one or more components of the powered system that contribute or cause the one or more differentials and/or changes an amount of fuel supplied to the engine according to the fuel consumption model to obtain a desired output of the engine.
Method of operating an internal combustion engine
The present invention discloses a method of operating an internal combustion engine comprising a controllable injector for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber, the injector communicating with a fuel accumulator through which it is supplied with fuel, the method comprising the following steps: determining a first pressure value of the pressure in the fuel accumulator on the basis of a first pressure measurement, determining a second pressure value of the pressure in the fuel accumulator on the basis of a second pressure measurement carried out after the first pressure measurement, and determining an injector opening duration depending on the first and the second pressure value.
System and method for measuring fuel injection during pump operation
A method is disclosed of controlling operation of a fuel injector in response to measuring a quantity of fuel injected by the fuel injector from a fuel accumulator to an engine cylinder during operation of a fuel pump that delivers fuel to the accumulator, comprising: determining an average pressure of the fuel accumulator during a first time period before a fuel injection event; predicting a mass of fuel delivered to the fuel accumulator during a pumping event (Q.sub.pump); determining an average pressure of the fuel accumulator during a second time period after the fuel injection event; estimating a leakage of fuel; computing the injected fuel quantity by adding the average pressure during the first time period to Q.sub.pump, and subtracting the average pressure during the second time period and the leakage; and using the computed injected, fuel quantity to control operation of the fuel injector.
Engine system with fuel system control arrangement and method for controlling fuel injection in an internal combustion engine
An engine system including a fuel system control arrangement includes an internal combustion engine including an exhaust line, one or more cylinders, and one or more fuel injectors corresponding to the one or more cylinders, means for determining fresh air mass flow into an intake to the engine, a nitrogen oxide (NOx) sensor in the exhaust line, and a controller configured to determine oxygen (O2) in exhaust gas based on a signal from the NOx sensor and to calculate a current fuel injection quantity based on the O2 in the exhaust gas and determined fresh air mass flow into the intake, to compare the current fuel injection quantity to a theoretical fuel injection quantity under current operating conditions, and to adjust an amount of fuel injection from the one or more fuel injectors when the current fuel injection quantity differs from the theoretical fuel injection quantity to make the current fuel injection quantity closer to the theoretical fuel injection quantity.
METHOD FOR ADJUSTING A FUEL MASS TO BE INJECTED
A method for adjusting a fuel mass to be injected into an internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine including an intake tract, at least one cylinder, and an exhaust tract. In the method, an air mass introduced into the internal combustion engine is ascertained and a fuel mass to be injected into the internal combustion engine is determined. An air-fuel ratio in the exhaust tract of the internal combustion engine is determined which is adjusted in time. Based on the time-adjusted air-fuel ratio and the calculated fuel mass to be injected, a first wall film fuel mass is calculated and the fuel mass to be injected is adjusted based on the first wall film fuel mass.
