Methods and system for estimating a temperature of an after treatment device

Systems and methods for estimating a temperature of an after treatment device in an exhaust system of an engine are described. In one example, the temperature is estimated during condition when an engine is in a fuel cut-out mode and fuel vapors are being released to the engine via a fuel vapor storage canister.

CONTROLLER FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, CONTROL METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, AND MEMORY MEDIUM
20220080947 · 2022-03-17 ·

A controller for an internal combustion engine, a control method for an internal combustion engine, and a memory medium are provided. The controller executes a deactivation process that deactivates combustion control in a specified one of cylinders. A compensation process operates a power generation device that produces driving torque applied to a driven wheel so as to compensate for insufficiency of the driving torque of a vehicle caused by the deactivation process. A prohibition process prohibits the deactivation process when it is determined that compensation by a predetermined amount or larger by the compensation process cannot be performed.

An internal combustion engine (1) is provided with an exhaust particulate filter (6) disposed in an exhaust passage (4). When the particulate deposition amount and the temperature of the exhaust particulate filter (6) meet a predetermined excessive temperature rise condition, fuel cut during deceleration is prohibited. When a predetermined release condition is satisfied during the prohibition of the fuel cut, the fuel cut is temporarily permitted to perform the regeneration of the exhaust particulate filter (6).

A method is provided for controlling an internal combustion engine as a function of an expected value of a temperature of a component of an exhaust gas system, route data of an expectable driving route being assigned values of exhaust gas temperatures. The method is characterized in that the route data are assigned engine operating data which are expectable when passing through the expectable driving route and in that a first exhaust gas temperature expected value is computed and assigned to a route section, in that the route is subdivided into characterizable route sections, in that each of these route sections is assigned a predetermined second exhaust gas temperature expected value which is based on at least one exhaust gas temperature value measured at an earlier point in time, and in that the expected value of the temperature of the component is formed on the basis of linking the first exhaust gas temperature expected value to the second exhaust gas temperature expected value.

Resistive switching memory with replacement metal electrode

A method is presented for facilitating oxygen vacancy generation in a resistive random access memory (RRAM) device. The method includes forming a RRAM stack having a first electrode and at least one sacrificial layer, encapsulating the RRAM stack with a dielectric layer, constructing a via resulting in removal of the at least one sacrificial layer of the RRAM stack, the via extending to a high-k dielectric layer of the RRAM stack, and forming a second electrode in the via such that the second electrode extends laterally into cavities defined by the removal of the at least one sacrificial layer.

This exhaust purification system includes: a pump disposed in an exhaust-side purge passage to supply air or purge gas purged from a canister to a catalyst; a three-way valve disposed upstream of the pump in the exhaust-side purge passage and configured to switch the exhaust-side purge passage between a communicating state allowing the pump to communicate with the canister and an atmosphere open state allowing the pump to communicate with the atmosphere; a flow control valve disposed downstream of the pump and configured to control a flow rate of air to be supplied to the catalyst; and a controller configured to, when a request to regenerate the catalyst occurs, control a purge valve, the pump, the three-way valve, and the flow control valve to supply, to the catalyst, purge gas purged from the canister and air by a necessary amount to burn particulates trapped in the catalyst.

Catalyst warm-up process monitoring device, system, and method for internal combustion engine, data analysis device, control device for internal combustion engine, and receiver

A storage device stores mapping data and association data. The mapping data defines a mapping that outputs an estimated value of the temperature of a catalyst using a warm-up operation amount variable and the previous value of the estimated value as an input. The association data associates the integrated value of an intake air amount of an internal combustion engine from the startup of the engine and the temperature of the catalyst. The execution device repeatedly calculates the estimated value based on the output of the mapping. When the correspondence relationship between the integrated value and the estimated value is different from the correspondence relationship between the integrated value and the temperature of the catalyst in the association data, the warm-up process is determined to have an anomaly.

LEAN BURN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE CONTROL

A variety of methods and arrangements for controlling the exhaust gas temperature of a lean burn, skip fire controlled internal combustion engine are described. In one aspect, an engine controller includes an aftertreatment system monitor and a firing timing determination unit. The aftertreatment monitor obtains data relating to a temperature of one or more aftertreatment elements, such as a catalytic converter. Based at least partly on this data, the firing timing determination unit generates a firing sequence for operating the engine in a skip fire manner such that the temperature of the aftertreatment element is controlled within its effective operating range.

State estimation device for internal combustion engine, state estimation system for internal combustion engine, data analysis device, and control device for internal combustion engine

A state estimation device for an internal combustion engine includes: a storage device that stores mapping data, the mapping data being data defining a mapping that takes as an input an internal combustion engine state variable and that generates as an output an estimated value for estimating the state of the internal combustion engine; and an execution device that executes an acquisition process of acquiring the internal combustion engine state variable and an estimation process of calculating the estimated value based on the output of the mapping. The mapping data is data learned by machine learning. When the estimated value is out of an acceptable range, the execution device executes a guard process of adjusting the estimated value to a value close to or within the acceptable range. When executing the guard process, the execution device calculates the value after the guard process as the estimated value.
