In the internal combustion engine, the bearing includes an oil seal built therein, the oil seal sealing a crank chamber of the crankcase. The one-way clutch mechanism includes a case fixed to the crankshaft and a starter driven gear provided relatively rotatably with respect to the case and driven by the drive force. The starter driven gear includes a thrust bearing portion that abuts on the balancer drive gear in an axial direction of the crankshaft.

The water jacket includes a head water jacket formed in a cylinder head of an engine; a block water jacket formed in a cylinder block of the engine; and a variable partition wall which is configured to induce a cross flow of cooling water in a space between positions of cylinders in the head water jacket, where the variable partition wall has a shape configured to be varied according to an engine operating condition, and the variable partition wall allows the cooling water to flow in a selected one of the cross flow and a parallel flow according to the shape which is varied in head water jacket.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AN EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE CARTRIDGE IN AN INTEGRATED EXHAUST MANIFOLD CYLINDER HEAD

Systems and methods are provided for an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system in a vehicle. In one example, a system may include a cylinder head including an integrated exhaust manifold (IEM), an EGR cartridge including an EGR valve positioned in the cylinder head at a central collector region of the IEM, and a water jacket formed within the cylinder head, the water jacket including at least one cooling passage that extends around a circumference of the EGR cartridge. In this way, an EGR system is provided that has a reduced volume between an exhaust valve of a cylinder to the EGR valve, reducing packaging space and complexity of the EGR system while increasing engine performance.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AN EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE CARTRIDGE IN AN INTEGRATED EXHAUST MANIFOLD CYLINDER HEAD

Systems and methods are provided for an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system in a vehicle. In one example, a system may include a cylinder head including an integrated exhaust manifold (IEM), an EGR cartridge including an EGR valve positioned in the cylinder head at a central collector region of the IEM, and a water jacket formed within the cylinder head, the water jacket including at least one cooling passage that extends around a circumference of the EGR cartridge. In this way, an EGR system is provided that has a reduced volume between an exhaust valve of a cylinder to the EGR valve, reducing packaging space and complexity of the EGR system while increasing engine performance.

The present invention relates to a liquid-cooled internal combustion engine comprising an engine block, which includes a plurality of cylinders, and cylinder heads closing the cylinders, wherein each cylinder is surrounded by a respective cooling liner and each cylinder head has provided therein at least one separate cooling chamber connected to the cooling liner of the associated cylinder via at least one transition channel, wherein the transition channels of at least two cylinders are interconnected via a pressure compensation chamber.
