LOW-PRESSURE EGR SYSTEM WITH CONDENSATE MANAGEMENT
An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system for an internal combustion (IC) engine. The EGR system has a first cooler configured to cool exhaust from an exhaust system of the IC and to drain exhaust liquid formed by the cooling. The EGR system has a mixture chamber configured to mix exhaust cooled by the first cooler with intake air to form an exhaust-air mixture. The EGR system has a second cooler configured to cool the exhaust-air mixture. The EGR system has a heat exchange system for circulating and cooling coolant fluid used by the first and second coolers, and includes a split valve configured to divide coolant fluid flow between the first and second coolers. The EGR system has an engine control module configured to adjust the split valve based on comparing a temperature of the exhaust-air mixture to a determined dewpoint temperature of the exhaust-air mixture.
Arrangement for Converting Thermal Energy From Lost Heat of an Internal Combustion Engine
An arrangement for converting thermal energy from lost heat of an internal combustion engine into mechanical energy includes a working circuit for a working medium. A heat exchanger is mounted upstream of the expansion engine in a flow direction of the working medium where the working circuit extends through the heat exchange. The heat exchanger includes an exhaust gas recirculation heat exchanger having a cold part and a warm part, an exhaust gas heat exchanger, and a phase transition cooling in the internal combustion engine. The heat exchanger is formed by serial connection in a sequence of the cold part of the exhaust gas recirculation heat exchanger, the exhaust gas heat exchanger, the phase transition cooling in the internal combustion engine, and the warm part of the exhaust gas recirculation heat exchanger.
Exhaust gas heat exchanger capable of controlling cooling performance
The present invention relates to an exhaust gas heat exchanger capable of controlling the cooling performance. The exhaust gas heat exchanger includes: a cooler through which cooling water flows and in which a plurality of gas tubes is provided to allow exhaust gas to flow; an intake and exhaust block including an intake part, a supply line, a discharge line, a bypass line, and a first flap; a U-turn block including an inflow part, a re-cooling line, a release line, and a second flap; and an air duct.
THERMOELECTRIC GENERATOR FOR VEHICLE
A thermoelectric generator for a vehicle utilizing heat of exhaust gas discharged from an engine of the vehicle includes a heat exchange unit, through which a coolant circulates, a thermoelectric generation unit for converting thermal energy of exhaust gas into electrical energy, a first flow passage for guiding the exhaust gas to pass through the heat exchange unit, a second flow passage for guiding the exhaust gas to pass through the thermoelectric generation unit, a third flow passage for guiding the exhaust gas to bypass the heat exchange unit and the thermoelectric generation unit without passing therethrough, a first valve for opening or closing the first flow passage, a second valve for selectively opening or closing the second flow passage and the third flow passage, and a driving unit for operating the first valve and the second valve by a single power source.
Arrangement for Converting Thermal Energy From Lost Heat of an Internal Combustion Engine
An arrangement for converting thermal energy from lost heat of an internal combustion engine into mechanical energy where a working circuit is provided for a working medium which can be heated and evaporated using the lost heat. An expansion machine for obtaining mechanical energy from the heat of the working medium is provided in the working circuit where the working circuit extends through a heat exchanger mounted upstream of the expansion engine in the flow direction of the working medium. The internal combustion engine includes a cylinder having a cylinder liner. A cooling duct is provided in the cylinder liner through which the working medium flows. The cylinder liner is formed by centrifugal casting where the cooling duct is introduced into one centrifugal mold as an insert prior to the centrifugal casting.
Waste heat recovery system with low temperature heat exchanger
Systems and methods are disclosed to recover waste heat from an engine fluid with a heat exchanger subsystem that includes a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger subsystem is thermally coupled to a working fluid and the engine fluid, so the waste heat from the engine fluid is transferred to the working fluid. The engine fluid is bypassed from the heat exchanger in response to a heat exchanger bypass condition.
