Engine panel filter and housing system

A filter element and/or filter assembly such as for engine air filtration is provided that may include a filter housing, a pre-cleaner or cover, a primary filter element and optionally a secondary filter element. Different components may share a common seal to seal against unfiltered airflow. For example the secondary filter and the primary filter may use the same seal that may be carried by the primary filter. The secondary filter may also surround the primary filter.

AIR INTAKE SYSTEM FOR AN ENGINE

In one example, an air intake system is provided. The air intake system includes a first air inlet duct providing intake air to an engine intake conduit, the first air inlet duct including an opening positioned external to an engine compartment. The air intake system also includes a second air inlet duct positioned upstream of the engine intake conduit and external to the engine compartment, the second air inlet duct including a porous material spanning an opening in the second air inlet duct, the porous material having a plurality of defined openings sized to prevent snow from traveling therethrough and collect on the porous material thereby impeding airflow through the second air inlet duct during snowy and icy conditions.

Air intake assemblies, apparatuses and methods for an engine

Intake assemblies for an engine are provided. In one aspect, an air intake assembly includes a screen defining a plurality of air passage holes therein, a fan, a flywheel, a crankshaft, and a screen support member coupled to the screen. The fan, the flywheel and the screen support member are coupled to the crankshaft with a single fastener, and the screen, the fan, the flywheel, the crankshaft and the screen support member all rotate together. In one aspect, the screen support member supports the screen a distance away from the fan such that the screen is completely spaced-apart from and does not engage the fan. In one aspect, a screen support member includes a base near one end of the screen support member and a plurality of coupling locations near a second end. The screen couples to the screen support member at the plurality of coupling locations.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING MASS AIR FLOW SIGNAL QUALITY

A filter assembly includes a conditioning device that conditions a flow of air upstream of a mass air flow sensor. The filter assembly includes a support frame. The filter assembly further includes a filter media coupled to the support frame, the filter media having a dirty side configured to receive a stream of air and a clean side configured to output a stream of air that has been filtered through the filter media. The filter assembly includes a conditioning device coupled to the support frame, the conditioning device positioned in a downstream direction from the clean side of the filter media with respect to the stream of air, the conditioning device offset from the clean side of the filter media by a separation distance.

A screen filter for an intake of a turbocharger/supercharger includes a coupling device and a securing means. The coupling device includes a hollow interior with an open end, a filter end and a width defined by the distance from the open end to the filter end. The open end is configured to fit around the intake of the turbocharger/supercharger. The filter end includes a screen. The securing means is configured to secure the coupling device around the intake of the turbocharger/supercharger. Wherein, when the coupling device is positioned around the intake of the turbocharger/supercharger, the screen at the filter end is positioned over an end of the intake of the turbocharger/supercharger.

AIR FLOW CONDITIONING DEVICE

A filter assembly includes a support fame, a filter media, and a conditioning device. The filter media is coupled to the support frame. The filter media has a dirty side that receives an air stream and a clean side that outputs the air stream after having been filtered by the filter media. The conditioning device is coupled to the support frame. The conditioning device is positioned downstream of the clean side of the filter media with respect to the air stream and directly contacts the clean side of the filter media.

The air intake system additionally includes at least one air filter and at least one silencer plate arranged upstream of the air filter, the silencer plate having a plurality of through openings through which the air can flow.
