AIR INTAKE ASSEMBLIES, APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR AN ENGINE
Intake assemblies for an engine are provided. In one aspect, an air intake assembly includes a screen defining a plurality of air passage holes therein, a fan, a flywheel, a crankshaft, and a screen support member coupled to the screen. The fan, the flywheel and the screen support member are coupled to the crankshaft with a single fastener, and the screen, the fan, the flywheel, the crankshaft and the screen support member all rotate together. In one aspect, the screen support member supports the screen a distance away from the fan such that the screen is completely spaced-apart from and does not engage the fan. In one aspect, a screen support member includes a base near one end of the screen support member and a plurality of coupling locations near a second end. The screen couples to the screen support member at the plurality of coupling locations.
High frequency silencer for an air induction system
A filter assembly including a filter media sized for positioning within an air induction system, the filter media possessing a first side and a second side substantially opposite the first side. The filter assembly includes a layer of sound absorbing foam positioned adjacent one of the first side of the filter media and the second side of the filter media, the sound absorbing foam including a plurality of perforations therein, the plurality of perforations permitting air to flow through the filter media and the layer of sound absorbing foam.
AIR FILTER WITH FILTERED CAP
An apparatus and methods are provided for a filtered cap air filter configured to be coupled with an air intake system of an internal combustion engine. The filtered cap air filter comprises a filter medium that is retained between a base and a filtered cap. The filter medium and the filtered cap are fabricated to remove contaminants and particulate matter from an intake airstream. In some embodiments, the filter medium and filtered cap may be configured to be treated with a filter oil composition to enhance air cleaning properties of the filter media. Wire supports may be incorporated into the filter medium and filtered cap to provide additional strength and durability to the filtered cap air filter. The base includes a flange and an opening that form an airtight connection between the filtered cap air filter and an air intake duct of the air intake system.
AIR CLEANER
An air cleaner has a first housing having an inlet and an upper opening, a second housing having an outlet and a lower opening, a filter element arranged between the upper opening of the first housing and the lower opening of the second housing. The first housing includes a looped wall, which protrudes from the inner surface thereof, and a sound absorbing member, which is made of an air permeable material and fixed to the upper end of the looped wall. The inner surface of the first housing, the inner peripheral surface of the looped wall, and the sound absorbing member define an air chamber.
AIR CLEANER
An air cleaner has a first housing having an inlet and an upper opening, a second housing having an outlet and a lower opening, a filter element arranged between the upper opening of the first housing and the lower opening of the second housing. The first housing includes a looped wall, which protrudes from the inner surface thereof, and a vibrating body, which is made of a non-air permeable material and fixed to the upper end of the looped wall. Inside the first housing, an air chamber is defined by the inner surface of the bottom wall, the inner peripheral surface of the looped wall, and the lower surface of the vibrating body.
ENGINE PANEL FILTER AND HOUSING SYSTEM
A filter element and/or filter assembly such as for engine air filtration is provided that may comprise a filter housing, a pre-cleaner or cover, a primary filter element and optionally a secondary filter element. Different components may share a common seal to seal against unfiltered airflow. For example the secondary filter and the primary filter may use the same seal that may be carried by the primary filter. The secondary filter may also surround the primary filter.
Air intake system for an engine
An air intake system is disclosed. The air intake system may have an air box. The air box may be configured to receive air from an ambient. The air intake system may also have a filter assembly disposed within the air box. The filter assembly may be configured to clean the air. In addition, the air intake system may have a duct. The duct may have a first duct end configured to receive the air exiting the filter assembly. The duct may also have a second duct end configured to deliver the air to the engine. The second duct end may be located at a gravitationally higher position than the first duct end.
System and Method for Improving Mass Air Flow Signal Quality
A filter assembly includes a conditioning device that conditions a flow of air upstream of a mass air flow sensor. The filter assembly includes a support frame. The filter assembly further includes a filter media coupled to the support frame, the filter media having a dirty side configured to receive a stream of air and a clean side configured to output a stream of air that has been filtered through the filter media. The filter assembly includes a conditioning device coupled to the support frame, the conditioning device positioned in a downstream direction from the clean side of the filter media with respect to the stream of air, the conditioning device offset from the clean side of the filter media by a separation distance.
Air cleaner and straddled vehicle including the same
An air cleaner includes an air cleaner case, an element disposed in the air cleaner case, and an intake port disposed in the air cleaner case. With respect to an imaginary plane extending in opposite first and second directions, opposite third and fourth directions, and opposite fifth and sixth directions that are perpendicular to each other, the air cleaner case includes a first half located at a side of the fifth direction and a second half located at a side of the sixth direction, with respect to an imaginary plane in which the first to fourth directions extend. The intake port is formed in the first half of the air cleaner case. The air cleaner case includes a closed wall at a position substantially symmetric to a position of the intake port with respect to the imaginary plane.
Secondary filter element and filter system
A secondary filter element for a filter system for filtering a gaseous fluid, in particular for a self-cleaning intake air filter system of a motor, has a filter medium which in the intended operation is flowed through by the fluid from an intended inflow side to an intended outflow side. The secondary filter element has a support element covering the filter medium at the intended inflow side. A filter system with such a secondary filter element is provided.
