Fuel Supply Device

A fuel supply device includes a flange unit and a pump unit. The flange unit includes a flange main body for closing an opening formed in an upper wall of a fuel tank. The pump unit includes a joint member that is connected to the flange main body so that both components may be movable relative to each other in the vertical direction. The interval in the vertical direction between the flange main body and the joint member is restricted from going below a minimum vertical interval. The minimum interval occurs when a stand-off portion provided as part of the flange main body and a connecting plate portion provided as part of the joint member come into mutual contact with each other and abut each other in the vertical direction.

A displacement amount of an apex of a small diameter part of a coupling shaft portion, which is required to displace the apex of the small diameter part placed in an engaging hole section of a complex hole to a limit point, is defined as a limit displacement amount while the limit point is an intersection between the engaging hole section and an insertion hole section of the complex hole. A projection is formed at a stopper piece as a displacement-amount limiting portion that limits the displacement amount of the apex to an amount, which is equal to or smaller than the limit displacement amount, through contact of the projection against an inner wall surface of the complex hole, which is opposed to the projection.

The elastic support member is connected to the pump case and the reserve tank via a first connection device and a second connection device, respectively. The first connection device is configured to pivotally connect the elastic support member to the pump case and/or the second connection device is configured to pivotally connect the elastic support member to the reserve tank.

Fuel Supply Device

A fuel supply device includes a sub-tank, a fuel pump, a transfer jet pump, a reduction valve, and a partition wall. The sub-tank is disposed within the fuel tank and forms a container configured to store fuel. The fuel pump is disposed in the sub-tank and is configured to pump fuel from the sub-tank. The transfer jet pump is configured to pump fuel from the fuel tank into the sub-tank. The reduction valve generates heat during operation. The partition wall divides an interior of the sub-tank into a first chamber and a second chamber. The fuel pump is disposed in the first chamber. Fuel passing through the reduction valve is discharged into the second chamber.

Fuel supply system for a road vehicle

A fuel supply system for a road vehicle and having: a fuel tank, which is shaped like saddle due to the presence of a central saddle and delimits an inner volume divided into an upper area, which is located above the central saddle, and two lower areas, which are located under the upper area and are separated from one another by the central saddle; two low-pressure fuel pumps, which each suck from the bottom of a corresponding lower area; at least one high-pressure fuel pump, which receives fuel from both low-pressure fuel pumps; a level sensor arranged in the upper area and configured to measure a fuel level only in the upper area; and two level sensors, each arranged in a respective lower area and configured to measure a fuel level only in the respective lower area.

A conduit engaging mechanism has a first member and a second member. The first member and the second member define and form fuel passages extending over them. A seal member is disposed between the first member and the second member. The first member and the second member are firmly engaged in a radial direction by fittingly coupling an engaging section and a fitting section. The first member and the second member are engaged by an engaging mechanism in an axial direction. The fuel passages are communicated as a series of passages by engaging the first passage forming section and the second passage forming section. The first passage forming section has a flexible pipe. The flexible pipe suppresses extension and contraction of the seal member by deflection itself. Consequently, deterioration of the seal member is suppressed.

A fuel supply device includes: a cover attached to an upper wall of a fuel tank; a pump unit disposed on a bottom wall of the fuel tank; and a connecting strut that connects the cover and the pump unit with each other. The pump unit includes: a unit body supported by the connecting strut in a radial direction and a thrust direction, and a fuel pump arranged on the unit body to pump fuel drawn from the fuel tank toward an internal-combustion engine. The fuel pump is located offset toward the connecting strut from a width center of a width from a thrust support part where the unit body is supported by the connecting strut to an end part of the unit body opposite from the connecting strut in a specific transverse direction.

A suction filter, through which fuel is suctioned into a suction port of a fuel pump after filtering the fuel in an inside of a fuel tank of a vehicle, includes a filter screen and a plurality of fuel stoppers. The filter screen is placed to cover an inside space, in which a negative suction pressure is exerted from the suction port. The filter screen includes a bottom wall that forms the inside space and is formed as a permeable wall, through which the fuel and air are permeable, and the filter screen filters the fuel permeated through the permeable wall. The fuel stoppers are arranged along the bottom wall from a side, at which the suction port is located, toward an away side, which is away from the suction port. The fuel stoppers extend toward the bottom wall in the inside space.
