Novel lactic acid bacterium L8 strain and a composition including the same L8 strain, the composition having blood glucose level reducing action, a lipid metabolism improving action, an antioxidant action, an antiobesity action, a fatty liver suppressing action, a hepatitis preventing action, a liver function improving action, and an intestinal environment improving action. A Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis L8 strain derived from Amur cork living in the Shirakami Mountains, a composition containing the strain, and a medium and a method for efficiently culturing the strain.
Systems, Methods and Compositions for the Inhibition of Bacterial Toxins to Treat Early Mortality Syndrome in Aquatic Animals
The invention relates to novel systems, methods, and compositions for the competitive inhibition of bacterial toxins expressed in animal systems, and preferably the inhibition of toxins produced by pathogenic bacteria that affect aquatic animals. One aspect of the invention includes methods and compositions for the treatment of Early-Mortality Syndrome (EMS) in shrimp through the use of truncated PirB.sup.Vp peptides used as competitor inhibitors to reduce formation of the cytotoxic PirA.sup.Vp/PirB.sup.Vp dimer complex.
Compositions comprising bacterial strains and use thereof in controlling pathogenic microorganisms
An isolated bacterial strain Bacillus amyloliquefaciens 298 is provided. A sample of the strain having been deposited as KCTC 13469BP at the Korean Collection for Type Cultures or a functional homolog of same wherein said isolated microbial strain is purified to a level of at least 99%. Also provided are compositions and articles comprising the bacterial strain and methods of using same.
Sporeforming probiotic strains, methods and uses thereof
The present disclosure relates to the isolation, identification and characterization of novel sporeforming probiotic strain(s) with NSPase (Non-Starch Polysaccharides-active hydrolases) activity isolated from fish gut microbiota, methods and uses thereof. The sporeforming probiotic strain(s) with NSPase activity now disclosed are able of producing carbohydrate-active enzymes (CAZymes) that hydrolyse non-starch polysaccharides (NSPs) and accesses their potential as probiotics (PRO) for use in particular in aquafeeds.

Aptamers for mycotoxin detoxification
Mycotoxin-deactivating aptamers, especially DNA aptamers, bind to mycotoxins in feed and feed ingredients resulting in the reduction or elimination of toxic and carcinogenic effects of mycotoxins. The invention also discloses a composition comprising a mycotoxin-deactivating aptamer, a binding agent, a biotransforming agent and an antioxidant for detoxifying mycotoxins in feeds. In addition, the invention teaches the methods of preparing the mycotoxin-deactivating aptamer-based composition and also the methods of using it as a feed additive. Furthermore, the invention relates to the use of the mycotoxin-deactivator/s alone, or in a composition comprising the aptamers and other mycotoxin-detoxifying agents, in feeds and feed ingredients for detoxifying the major mycotoxins such as aflatoxins, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone, fumonisins and ochratoxin A.
