10434061 · 2019-10-08 · ·

A composition and method for administering an active agent to a pet, such as a dog, a cat or a horse. The composition may comprise a yogurt-based chewable delivery matrix and a plurality of water-soluble film pieces dispersed throughout the chewable delivery matrix. The composition may also comprise a delivery matrix having at least 15% by weight of crude protein and a plurality of water-soluble film pieces dispersed throughout the delivery matrix. The plurality of water-soluble film pieces encompass an active agent therein, wherein the active agent is rapidly released from the composition upon contact with saliva from the pet. At least a portion of the released active agents may be oromucosally absorbed by the pet.

Colostrum solid extraction process

A colostrum solid extraction process utilizes rennet coagulation prior to pH adjustment to alter the protein profile resulting in an animal feed supplement which enhances feed efficiency and general health. Rennet coagulation is used to produce extracted whey from colostrum. A pH of the extracted whey is adjusted by cooling the extracted whey to below 70 degrees Fahrenheit, adding an first solution to lower the pH of the extracted whey to 4.2 pH, adding a second solution to lower the pH of the extracted whey to 2.5 pH, agitating the extracted whey after reaching 2.5 pH, resting the extracted whey after agitation, and adding a third solution to raise the pH of the extracted whey to 4.2 pH.

Mitigation of cryptosporidiosis using hydrogen peroxide-generating compositions

Compositions for preventing or decreasing cryptosporidiosis in animals are disclosed herein. The compositions include sources of hydrogen peroxide and are fed to animals. The animals may be neonatal calves and the cryptosporidiosis may be caused by Cryptosporidium parvum. Methods of preventing or decreasing cryptosporidiosis in animals by feeding the hydrogen peroxide-generating compositions to the animals are also disclosed. Some disclosed methods reduce the number of Cryptosporidium oocysts shed by an infected animal or reduce the infectivity of Cryptosporidium oocysts shed by an infected animal. Some methods include feeding the hydrogen peroxide-generating compositions to animals ultimately afflicted with cryptosporidiosis, and the animals gain weight despite the infection.

Pig waste silage

The invention herein is directed to pig waste silage, which is derived from the conversion of pig waste, a fermentable sugar source, and lactic acid fermentable culture, thereby pig waste is transformed into a nitrogen-rich, crude protein concentrate ingredient, suitable for consumption by cattle, sheep, and goat diets. The pig waste silage of the invention herein is a crude protein source that can lower operational costs for cattle and other ruminant producers, by using less protein-based grains, as well as reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, through a better and more efficient digestion of ruminants, based on physiological principles.

Pet food product

A pet food product is provided in which the protein fraction thereof comprises micro-particulate, denatured whey protein isolate, wherein the whey protein isolate contains at least 90 wt % protein, and optionally, animal protein. If animal protein is present, it may not comprise protein derived from functional organs, and the protein fraction may desirably be formed into a homogenous matrix. Processes for making the pet food product are also provided.
