Packaging bore for eliminating washout failure

A high hardness sleeve or surface treatment to a predetermined hardness is used in a packing bore for a fluid end of a pump assembly. The bore is either treated to provide the hardness or a sleeve is used which is fitted in an oversized bore for preventing washout failure. The sleeve is welded into the pump block and machined to the proper size bore. Thereafter the bore is protected from washout failure at this location. Alternatively, a surface of the sleeve is polished which further reduces the wear on the part. The sleeve can be a stainless steel material hardened by heat treating process or otherwise treated or carbon steel sleeves with the predetermined bore hardness which could be welded into a suitable bore in the pump. However, other processes for hardening the stainless steel can be used as long as desired predetermined surface hardness is maintainable.

Gasoline direct injection fuel pump with isolated plunger sleeve

An improved high-pressure fuel pump for a gasoline direct injection system is provided. The fuel pump includes a pump body defining a low-pressure side, a high-pressure side, and a pumping chamber therebetween. The pump body also defines a central bore and a drain port extending from the central bore to the low-pressure side. A slip-fit sleeve is clamped within the central bore, the slip-fit sleeve including upper and lower guide ribs. A plunger is moveable within the sleeve for compressing fuel within the pumping chamber. The plunger and the sleeve define a first diametral clearance, and the guide ribs and the central bore define a second diametral clearance. Fuel diverting around the upper guide rib during pumping operations can recirculate through the drain port to the low-pressure side. To accommodate thermal expansion of the sleeve, the second diametral clearance is at least 75% of the first diametral clearance.

System for dispensing abrasive material

A system for dispensing abrasive materials includes a transfer pump configured to pump abrasive material to a metering pump configured to pump the abrasive material to an application. Dynamic interfaces within the pumps are at least partially formed by sleeved components of the pump interfacing with a seal configured to engage with the sleeved surface during relative movement between the sleeved surface and the seal. The smooth exterior surfaces of the sleeves interface with the seals to prevent abrasive particulate in the material from adhering to the sleeve, preventing the abrasive particulate from being pulled between the sleeve and the seal.

A reciprocating pump includes a fluid end having a body defining a plunger bore that engages a plunger sleeve with a threaded interface, where the plunger sleeve defines throughbore configured to receive a plunger operatively reciprocating within the plunger bore during operation of the reciprocating pump. A packing assembly including a plurality of stacked annular seals is disposed between the plunger sleeve and the plunger. A packing nut having a threaded profile for engagement with a threaded surface of the plunger bore asserts a load against the packing assembly to ensure a positive engagement with the plunger.

SEALING HIGH PRESSURE FLOW DEVICES

A fluid end assembly comprising a housing having multiple conduits formed therein. A tubular sleeve is installed within one of the conduits and is configured to house a plurality of packing seals. A seal is installed within a groove formed in the walls of the housing surrounding the tubular sleeve such that the seal engages an outer surface of the tubular sleeve.

Variable displacement pump

Provided is a variable displacement pump which includes a cylinder block including a plurality of cylinder bores formed in a rotation shaft in a circumferential direction and rotating together with the rotation shaft, a piston provided inside each of the plurality of cylinder bores to be slidable, and a swash plate supported to be tiltable with respect to the rotation shaft while a distal end portion of the piston is slidable thereon and which sucks and discharges a working fluid by moving the piston in a reciprocating manner with a stroke in accordance with an inclination angle of the swash plate, the variable displacement pump including: a control piston which includes a piston portion pressing the swash plate and controls the inclination angle of the swash plate; a piston accommodation portion which is formed in the housing and accommodates the piston portion; and a hollow cylindrical guide portion which is disposed between the piston accommodation portion and the piston portion and includes an inner peripheral surface supporting the piston portion to be slidable thereon, in which the housing is formed of a material having higher fatigue strength than the guide portion and the guide portion is formed of a material harder than the housing.

The present invention provides a cylinder liner retainer system with a torque multiplier and associated method to quickly release an existing cylinder liner and reinsert a new cylinder liner as a replacement.

Method of Construction for High Cycle Fatigue Resistant Pressure Vessels in Hydrogen Service

A method and system are described for a gas booster, preferably for use with hydrogen. A linear actuator can provide compression in first and second compression vessels. The liner of the compression vessels can be placed in compressive stress so that any cracks that form do not spread. Compressive stress can be applied using, at least, a shrink fit process or a wire wrapping process. The compressive stress will help the inner liner to resist fatigue and cracking due to pressure cycling and corrosion by materials being compressed in the compression vessels. This also protects the chamber jacket from wear and tear.

Piston cartridge for piston pump

A hydraulic piston pump includes a reciprocal piston disposed in a blind housing bore of a piston housing to generate a pumping action. To accommodate the piston, a piston cartridge is installed in each of the housing bores. The piston cartridge includes a piston sleeve having an inner sleeve periphery, a first outer sleeve periphery, and a second outer sleeve periphery. The inner sleeve periphery is configured to establish sliding contact with the piston. The first outer sleeve periphery has a first outer sleeve diameter that is larger than a second outer sleeve diameter of the second outer sleeve periphery. To seal against the blind housing bore, a liner cap having a cylindrical liner wall and an axial liner cover is disposed over the first outer sleeve periphery. The axial liner cover abuts a housing bore ceiling of the blind housing bore and can receive hydraulic fluid there through.
