A slope in which the distance between opposing surfaces of opposing end plates continuously reduces from the outer peripheral surface toward the inner peripheral surface is provided, and a tip seal (7) that comes into contact with an opposing tooth bottom so as to seal a fluid is provided to a tip seal groove (3d) formed at a tooth tip of a wall body (3b) corresponding to the slope. A groove bottom (3d1) of the tip seal groove (3d) is formed into a shape in which the center portion (3d2) in the groove width direction deepest. The tip seal (7) is formed such that the center portion (7a1), in the width direction, of the bottom (7a) of the tip seal (7) facing the groove bottom (3d1) projects farther than both side portions (7a2).

SCROLL TYPE COMPRESSOR

A scroll type compressor includes a housing, a fixed scroll cooperating with the housing to define a discharge chamber, a movable scroll cooperating with the fixed scroll to define a compression chamber, and a shaft support member cooperating with the movable scroll to define a back pressure chamber. Fluid in the compression chamber is supplied to the back pressure chamber. The back pressure chamber and the discharge chamber communicate with each chamber through a relief passage. A check valve is disposed in the relief passage, and the check valve allows the fluid to flow from the back pressure chamber to the discharge chamber, when back pressure of the back pressure chamber is higher than discharge pressure of the discharge chamber.

SCROLL COMPRESSOR

A scroll compressor includes a housing, a rotary shaft, a movable scroll, an eccentric shaft, an opposed wall, a looped elastic plate, a looped support portion, an annular protrusion, a back pressure chamber, and a back pressure supplying groove. The distance in the radial direction of the rotary shaft from the rotation axis of the rotary shaft to then outer end of the back pressure supplying groove in the radial direction of the rotary shaft is shorter than or equal to the distance obtained by subtracting the distance in the radial direction of the rotary shaft between the rotation axis of the rotary shaft and the axis of the eccentric shaft from the distance in the radial direction of the rotary shaft from the axis of the eccentric shaft to the part of the protrusion that contacts the elastic plate.

Conventional scroll-type fluid machines did not take into account the issue of size reduction through reduction of an axial length without causing an imbalance between a compressor body unit and a motor unit in terms of dissipation of heat. In order to solve the problem, the present invention provides a scroll-type fluid machine provided with: a body unit having a fixed scroll and a turning scroll, each having a lap formed on an end plate thereof; and a motor unit having a drive shaft for driving the body unit, rotors, and a stator. Cooling fins are formed on the opposite surfaces of the fixed scroll and the turning scroll from the surfaces of the respective end plates where the laps are formed. The scroll-type fluid machine is constructed so as to satisfy .alpha./16+lc/4ls.alpha./4+lc where .alpha. denotes a radial dimension of the end plate of the fixed scroll, lc denotes a distance in the axial direction from the tip of the cooling fins of the fixed scroll to the tip of the cooling fins of the turning scroll, and is denotes an axial dimension of the stator.
