SYSTEMS AND METHOD FOR THE PREPARATION OF PLANT DERIVED PRODUCTS USING OSMOSIS TECHNIQUES
A method for preparing a plant derived product or a process intermediate or a process input, the method comprising the steps of providing a plant derived starting material, subjecting the starting material to a forward osmosis step against a draw solution so as to produce a plant material concentrate, and subjecting the draw solution to a water removal step. The water removal step may include further forward osmosis in combination with an evaporator system.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING ULTRA-HIGH GRAVITY ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
Methods and systems are described that produce an ultra-high gravity alcoholic beverage from a high gravity alcoholic beverage stream using an efficient, low waste, combination reverse osmosis and forward osmosis system. Utilizing a reverse osmosis system prior to using a forward osmosis system in removing water content from a high gravity alcoholic beverage stream significantly reduces a draw solution load when compared to a process that utilizes a forward osmosis system alone or prior to using any other dewatering system.
THIN POLYMER MEMBRANE FOR TREATMENT OF SALINE WATER
An ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) membrane has at least one nanoporous UHMWPE film, where each of the nanoporous UHMWPE film is biaxial oriented with a thickness of 0.1 to 12 m and pores that exclude particles in excess of 10 nm with a total porosity of 65 to 75 percent. The nanoporous UHMWPE film can be coated or laminated by a hydrophilic polymer to form a Janus membrane and can be made with a multilayer composite structure. The UHMWPE membrane can be used in a device for molecular distillation (MD), reverse osmosis (RO), or forward osmosis (FO).

METHOD OF PRODUCING A FORTIFIED DAIRY PRODUCT
A method of making a fortified dairy product includes concentrating an amount of fruit juice and an amount of camel milk to obtain an amount of concentrated camel milk and an amount of concentrated fruit juice. The concentrated camel milk and the concentrated fruit juice can be heated and blended to produce a mixture. The mixture can then be spray dried to produce the fortified dairy product. The fortified dairy product can be a homogenous powder having a pH level ranging from about pH 4.5 to about pH 7.0.
EXTRACTS FROM FRUITS OF THE CUCURBITACEAE FAMILY, AND METHODS OF PREPARING THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to extracts and sweetening compositions that may be wholly derived from fruits of the Cucurbitaceae family containing mogroside V and other terpene glycosides. The extracts have a low mogroside V content. The extracts also have a low monosaccharide content, and can be spray-dried to form a spray-dried product. The extracts may be suitable for use as a bulking agent, and can be combined with a terpene glycoside powder. The extracts and sweetening compositions can be used in a food, beverage, and dietary supplement products. Provided are also methods for preparing such extracts and sweetening compositions.
Refined plant isolates and process for the manufacture of a functional food ingredient from such plant isolate
The present invention is concerned with providing refined plant isolates that can be used as starting materials for the production of functional food ingredients, such as taste enhancers, through an isolation process that employs ion exclusion chromatography. More particularly, the present invention provides a refined plant isolate comprising at least 30% by weight of dry matter of water soluble plant components selected from fructose, glucose, proteinaceous matter of plant origin, acids and potassium, said isolate further being characterized in that at a concentration of 40 Brix the isolate: contains at least 0.3 wt % of glutamate; contains at least 500 ppm of K.sup.+; contains less than 300 ppm of Ca.sup.2+; contains less than 700 ppm of Mg.sup.2+; contains less than 1 wt. % of components capable of passing an ultra filtration membrane having a molecular weight cut off of 250 kDa; wherein the concentration ratio ([Ca.sup.2+]+[Mg.sup.2+])/[K.sup.+] does not exceed 5:100, each of said cation concentrations being expressed in ppm.

System and method for filtering beverages
A filtration system for clarifying a cloudy beverage from at least one tank in which dregs have formed, the clarifying occurring through a cross-flow filtration. The filtration system includes: a first filtration module having a first filtration element, the first filtration element including a first channel having a first diameter; and, a second filtration circuit located in parallel to the first filtration circuit, the second filtration circuit including a second filtration module having a second filtration element, the second filtration element including a second channel having a second diameter, the second diameter being larger than the first diameter. A method for filtering a cloudy beverage from at least one tank in which dregs have formed, the method using the just-described filtration system.
METHOD FOR PURIFYING LIQUID AND SYSTEM FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION THEREOF
The present liquid purification method, carried out with the aid of a liquid purification system, includes a three-stage liquid filtration cycle, during which all of the drain liquid can be continuously fed back into the purification system until the liquid filtration cycle is complete. During this continuous recycling, a high liquid flow rate is maintained, and the feed rate of the liquid can be controlled during the continuous mixing of initial liquid and drain liquid. The common aim of this subject matter and the technical result achieved in the use of same is the development of a novel energy-efficient method and system for purifying liquids which makes it possible to improve the energy-efficiency of liquid purification while simultaneously increasing the degree of purification and the extent to which the initial liquid is used.
