Anti-swirl ribs in electric submersible pump balance ring cavity

Systems and features for improving sand control in pumps are provided. These features can be used in centrifugal pumps employed in a variety of oilfield applications, such as in electric submersible pumping systems positioned downhole in a wellbore to pump oil or other fluids. Such features include shielded anti-swirl ribs positioned in the balance chamber.

Thrust box and skid for a horizontally mounted submersible pump

A thrust box with improved cooling comprises a case having an interior, a first passageway and an opposing second passageway. A shaft passes through the case and the first and second passageway. A thrust runner is secured to the shaft and a pump ring is attached to the thrust runner. Advantageously, the pump ring facilitates oil rate circulation and cooling among other benefits.

SUBMERSIBLE PUMP DETECTION SYSTEM

The invention relates to an apparatus, system, and method for detecting a layer of contaminants, such as hydrocarbons, on the surface of accumulated water within a confined area that is periodically evacuated by a pump. The detection of contaminant layers may be accomplished through the use of an optical detection system comprising a light source, a plate having conductive, capacitive, positional and/or reflective properties, and a capacitive, pressure, optical, or ultrasonic sensor capable of distinguishing between oil and water, with the plate positioned at a distance equal to the desired minimum detectable hydrocarbon layer thickness. Dissipation of turbulence and agitation of the accumulated water may be achieved with a stilling tube. Additional sensors may detect high, intermediate, and low levels, as well as trigger optical sensor measurement. An integrated controller may determine the state of media within the confined area.

Electrical submersible pump seal section reduced leakage features

A submersible pump assembly includes a pump, a motor, and a seal section connected between. A shaft passage in the seal section has an outboard end that is open to the pump intake and an inboard end that is in fluid communication with motor lubricant in the motor. A drive shaft extends axially within the shaft passage. An outboard bearing at the outboard end of the shaft passage receives the shaft to provide radial support. An inboard bearing at the inboard end of the shaft passage receives the shaft to provide radial support. A shaft seal in the shaft passage receives and seals around the shaft. The shaft seal is located between the outboard bearing and the inboard bearing and seals motor lubricant in the shaft passage from well fluid in the shaft passage.

LUBRICATING AN ELECTRIC SUBMERSIBLE PUMP
20220333608 · 2022-10-20 ·

An assembly and a method for lubricating an electric submersible pump assembly disposed in a wellbore are described. The assembly includes a pump to pressurize a wellbore fluid and an electric motor to rotate the pump. The electric motor is lubricated by a dielectric oil. A sensor is coupled to the electric motor to sense a condition of the electric motor and transmit a signal including a value representing the condition. A controller is coupled to the electric motor and the sensor. The controller receives the signal from the sensor, compares the value to a threshold value, determines when the value is greater than the threshold value, and responsive to determining that the value is greater than a threshold value indicating a presence of contaminated dielectric oil, flows a clean dielectric oil from an accumulator to the electric motor to expel the contaminated dielectric oil out of the electric motor.

Circulating water system for intensive aquaculture
11622545 · 2023-04-11 ·

The circulating water system for intensive aquaculture disclosed herein includes a submersible pump, an outlet tube, an outer casing tube and a deflector plate. The submersible pump is adapted for being mounted on the bottom of an aquaculture pool at a position close to the circumferential wall. The outlet tube has a tapered section sleeved onto a discharge port, while the outer casing tube is sheathed outside the outlet tube. The deflector plate is mounted laterally to the submersible pump, such that when the submersible pump is pumping water from the aquaculture pool through the discharge port, the deflector plate acts to guide the discharged water approach the circumferential wall, thereby generating a circulating swirling flow rotating in tangential direction along the circumferential wall.

PERMANENT MAGNET MOTOR FOR ELECTRICAL SUBMERSIBLE PUMP AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLY ROTOR

A motor for an electrical submersible pump includes a stator and rotor, where the rotor is made up of adjacent columns of magnets affixed onto an annular core. End rings on opposite ends of the core provide axial backstops for magnet columns. Thin coaxial sleeves are shrunk fit over the magnets and end rings and that radially compress the magnets. Apertures in a column are formed radially through the core and receive fasteners for securing a guide bar to the core. The guide bar simulates an installed column of magnets to guide placement of adjacent columns of magnets as the guide bar width is substantially the same as a column of magnets, and aperture locations are strategically positioned so that when the guide bar is secured onto the core. After the guide bar is removed the one of the columns of magnets is then adhered to the core.

A portable power supply device for an electric tool comprises: a power supply receiving portion, provided in or on a housing and used to receive a power supply supplying power to the electric tool, and a control unit, comprising a controller that is provided in the housing and is used to control the electric energy supplied to the electric tool. The power supply receiving portion comprises a power supply compartment, which is at least partially defined by a cover which can move relative to the housing between an opened position and a closed position. The power supply device further comprises a positioning accessory detachably and replaceably attached to the housing and/or the power supply receiving portion.

Fuel compositions from light tight oils and high sulfur fuel oils
11649408 · 2023-05-16 · ·

Methods are provided to prepare a low sulfur fuel from hydrocarbon sources, such as light tight oil and high sulfur fuel oil, often less desired by conventional refiners, who split crude into a wide range of differing products and may prefer presence of wide ranges (C3 or C5 to C20 or higher) of hydrocarbons. These fuels can be produced by separating feeds into untreated and treated streams, and then recombining them. Such fuels can also be formulated by combinations of light, middle and heavy range constituents in a selected manner as claimed. Not only low in sulfur, the fuels of this invention are also low in nitrogen and essentially metals free. Fuel use applications include on-board large marine transport vessels but also on-shore for large land based combustion gas turbines, boilers, fired heaters and transport vehicles and trains.
