FAN MOTOR
A fan motor includes a shroud, a rotating shaft that is disposed inside the shroud and includes a first support portion, a second support portion, and a permanent magnet mounting portion disposed between the first support portion and the second support portion, an impeller disposed at a first end portion of the rotating shaft, an air bearing that is disposed adjacent to the impeller and defines an air gap facing the first support portion, a permanent magnet disposed at the permanent magnet mounting portion between the first end portion and a second end portion of the rotating shaft opposite to the first end portion in the axial direction, and a ball bearing disposed at the second end portion of the rotating shaft and configured to rotatably support the second support portion.
Halo seal access window openings
A seal ring for a non-contact seal may comprise an annular body comprising a first side surface, a second side surface, an outer surface, and an inner surface, and a plurality of window openings disposed in the annular body. The plurality of window openings may be configured to provide access to the seal for installation of a melting member to secure the seal shoes in an outboard direction during installation.
Chiller system with direct-drive switched reluctance motor
A 3000-20000 rpm RS-SR motor (RS-SR) and adjustable speed drive (ASD), with a cooling and lubrication system that is independent of the existing chiller lubrication and refrigerant cooling circuits. Product is configured as a direct replacement for motor, starter (drive), and gearbox solutions historically and currently used by OEM's on chillers. Oil containment and low motor cavity pressure is achieved with Axial Carbon Ceramic seals. Using an inner shell suspended in an outer shell: a coolant path is created, and vibration is abated, as well as meeting pressure vessel requirements. These features enable precise qualification of product independent of the chiller system over range of speeds and loads on a calibrated test stand. Specific information derived from qualification tests enables integration of optimization subroutines into the ASD that improve efficiency and increase ability to operate at or near compressor surge boundary.
FLUID MACHINE
A fluid machine includes a bladed wheel, a resolver, a first fastener, and a second fastener. A resolver rotor is held between the first fastener and the rotary shaft and fixed to a large-diameter portion of the rotary shaft. The bladed wheel is held between the second fastener and the rotary shaft and fixed to a small-diameter portion of the rotary shaft. While the resolver rotor is fixed by the first fastener in a same direction as the bladed wheel is fixed by the second fastener along an axial direction of the rotary shaft, and the resolver rotor is fixed by the first fastener at a position away in a radial direction of the rotary shaft from a position where the bladed wheel is fixed by the second fastener so that the resolver rotor does not receive an axial force from the second fastener.
Reduced emission gas seal
A dry gas mechanical seal system configured to inhibit the emission of process gas. The mechanical seal system having tandem first and second stage seals, and a single separation gas supply subsystem configured to direct a supply of separation gas from an inlet through interfacing portions of the first stage seal into a process cavity and from the inlet through the interfacing portions of the second stage seal and out through an outlet to the atmosphere, thereby inhibiting the emission of process gas between a compressor housing and a rotating compressor shaft.
Rotating machine and mating ring included therein
A rotating machine includes a shaft, a first impeller wheel, and a second impeller wheel. The rotating machine also includes a first seal assembly including a first carbon ring disposed about the shaft, with the first carbon ring having a first carbon surface. The first seal assembly also includes a first mating ring disposed about the shaft, with the first mating ring having a first mating surface facing and configured to contact the first carbon surface. The rotating machine additionally includes a second seal assembly including a second carbon ring disposed about the shaft, with the second carbon ring having a second carbon surface. The second seal assembly also includes a second mating ring disposed about the shaft, with the second mating ring having a second mating ring surface facing and configured to contact the second carbon surface.
Product is configured as a direct replacement for motor, starter(drive), and gearbox solutions historically and currently used by OEM's on chillers.
Impingement cooled rotating seal
A rotating seal rotatable about a rotational axis is provided. The rotating seal includes a body having a first surface disposable to face the rotational axis and a second surface disposable to contact with a stationary element. The body defines a cooling channel including one or more entrance channels respectively extending from the first surface, one or more exit channels and a plenum. The plenum extends circumferentially through the body and has a hot side adjacent to the second surface. The plenum is fluidly interposed between the one or more entrance channels and the one or more exit channels whereby fluid exiting the one or more entrance channels and entering the plenum impinges against the hot side.
