A discharge head features at least one low-deflection component that substantially does not deflect in response to high piping forces applied in a direction perpendicular to the discharge head; at least one high-deflection component that deflects in response to the high piping forces; and a flexible element configured between the at least one low-deflection component and the at least one high-deflection component to contain pressure and to be highly flexible in the direction perpendicular to the centerline of the discharge head.

Pump assembly for a dishwashing appliance

A pump assembly for a dishwashing appliance includes an inner diffuser shell defining a motor housing and an outer diffuser shell spaced apart from the inner diffuser shell to define a diffusing plenum. A motor positioned within the motor housing rotates a wash pump impeller and urges a flow of wash fluid through the diffusing plenum. Within the diffusing plenum, guide vanes extend between the inner diffuser shell and the outer diffuser shell to diffuse and direct the flow of wash fluid.

Improved Reversible Pump-Turbine Installation

The present invention is a reversible pump-turbine installation position in a vertical shaft instead of in a conventional underground powerhouse or deep concrete powerhouse. The required plant cavitation coefficient may be achieved by simply boring a vertical shaft to the required depth rather than routing the water flow to and from a deeply buried powerhouse. A pneumatically controlled pressure relief valve may be incorporated into this invention.

Pump plate for conditioning fluid flow in a dishwasher

The present invention provides a pump plate (60) for conditioning the flow of a fluid before the fluid enters an inlet (51) of a circulation pump (50) of a dishwasher. The pump plate (60) may have a plate portion with a number of holes (62) dispersed across its surface such that fluid may flow through the holes (62). The pump plate (60) may also include one or more upper guide vanes (63) extending outwardly from the plate portion and configured to reduce the turbulence in the fluid flow. A dishwasher (10) including a pump plate (60) and a method for manufacturing such a dishwasher are also provided. A dishwasher (10) that includes a pump plate (60) to condition the fluid flow within the dishwasher may be configured to function efficiently while requiring less water to complete a rinse or wash cycle than a dishwasher that does not include a pump plate.

Hydraulic pump having impeller pump and trochoid pump

A hydraulic pump includes a casing, and an impeller pump having a rotor that is rotationally mobile with respect to the casing about a first axis. The rotor includes several blades in helix form, a transition zone belonging to the casing and having, on the side of the impeller pump, a ramp in helix form developing in the same direction as the helix form of the blades. A trochoid pump includes a rotor with outer toothing secured to the rotor of the impeller pump. A rotor with internal toothing is rotationally mobile with respect to the casing about a second axis parallel to and offset from the first axis. The trochoid pump is fed by the impeller pump through the transition zone running along the ramp.

BOOST TURBO-PUMP WITH AXIALLY FED TURBINE

A liquid propellant rocket engine includes a main turbo-pump and a boost turbo-pump. The main turbo-pump has a main pump with an outlet that is fluidly coupled with a supply line. The boost turbo-pump includes a housing, a rotor, a boost pump, and a turbine. The boost pump includes a first portion of the housing and a first portion the rotor. The turbine includes a second portion of the housing and a second portion of the rotor. The turbine has turbine blades attached to the second portion of the rotor and an inlet fluidly coupled with the supply line. The turbine has a plurality of circumferentially disposed feed lines defined by the second portion of the housing and not the first portion of the housing. The feed lines are fluidly coupled between the inlet and the turbine blades. The feed lines have an acute angle turn.

FLUID PUMP

A fluid pump includes an inlet for introducing fluid into the fluid pump and an outlet for discharging the fluid from the fluid pump A motor is included having an armature which rotates about an axis. The motor also has a stator which circumferentially surrounds the armature such that a fluid passage is defined radially between the armature and stator through which the fluid flows from the inlet to the outlet. A pumping arrangement is rotated by the armature and pumps the fluid from the inlet to the outlet. A flow impedance member extends axially in the fluid passage which impedes circumferential flow of the fluid within the fluid passage, thereby generating a pressure gradient circumferentially within the fluid passage which applies a lateral force to the armature.
