Sanitizing Process for Exposing a Food Container to Multiple Sanitizing Agents Along a Circuitous Path

A method for sanitizing pre-measured units of a pre-sanitized flowable food product in a sanitizing device installed into an existing food production system without substantially increasing the head height requirement of the feed production system. A plurality of containers are moved about a path with increased retention time through a plurality of stations: a receiving station, one or more sanitizing stations, and a dispensing station, and a container cleaning station. A pre-measured unit measured for packaging is received at the receiving station into a container. The pre-measured unit is exposed to one or more sanitizing agents at one or more sanitizing stations. The pre-measured unit is immediately packaged after sanitization. The pre-measured unit is dispensed into a packaging device at the dispensing station. The containers are then cleaned at the container cleaning station to prepare each container to receive a subsequent pre-measured unit of the pre-sanitized flowable feed product.

Active controlled atmosphere systems

A method is provided for operating an active controlled atmosphere (CA) system to regulate the atmosphere in a cargo storage space. The controlled atmosphere system comprises: a plurality of gas exchange modules, each being operable to vary the level of a respective component gas in the cargo storage space, and/or at least one gas exchange module operable in a plurality of different modes to vary the level of a respective component gas in the cargo storage space; and a control module configured to control operation of each gas exchange module according to a plurality of different predetermined atmospheric control logics. Each atmospheric control logic defines operational gas exchange modules and/or operational modes for use over respective operational ranges of atmospheric conditions, and each atmospheric control logic is configured to cause operation of a different combination of gas exchange modules and/or modes over a comparable operational range, independently of any setpoints for gas component levels. The method comprises: the control module selecting an operational atmospheric control logic from the plurality of different predetermined atmospheric control logics for atmospheric control of the cargo storage space; and the control module controlling operation of each gas exchange module dependent on the selected operational atmospheric control logic to regulate the atmosphere in the cargo storage space.

Methods and systems are provided for infusing a crystalline and/or porous solid with a desired fluid, particularly an antimicrobial agent, as well as infused crystalline and/or porous solids produced thereby. Solids which may be infused with an antimicrobial agent according to the invention include erythritol, table salt, table sugar, baking soda, calcium carbonate, acetic acid, ascorbic acid, and marshmallow.

Flexible plasma applicators based on fibrous layers

Disclosed herein are flexible plasma applicators based on fibrous layers that are capable of rapidly sanitizing a surface via either direct or indirect contact with said surface.

FOOD PRESERVATION SYSTEM

A food preservation system is provided. The system includes a storage cabinet for storing foods, an electrolytic gas generator, a gas sensor and a control unit. The electrolytic gas generator is in fluid communication with the storage cabinet to output a first gas and a second gas to preserve the foods. The gas sensor is arranged in the storage cabinet to detect the concentration of the gases in the storage cabinet for obtaining gas concentration information which includes a first gas concentration and a second gas concentration. The control unit is electrically connected to the electrolytic gas generator and the gas sensor. According to the received gas concentration information, the control unit adjusts the applied voltage of the electrolytic gas generator to control the gas species generated by the electrolytic gas generator and the first and second gas concentrations in the storage cabinet.

A device for generating an ozone in a high moisture content environment is provided. The ozone generator features an enclosure with an interior space, an assembly within this interior space, at least one sheet of glass, and a power control board positioned in the housing and which houses the at least one sheet of glass. The assembly features at least one anode and at least one cathode where there is some overlap between the anode and cathode, which are preferably constructed out of aluminum. When in use, the ozone generator creates a plasma discharge which is used to prevent potential corrosive effects that may arise.

Air composition adjusting device

An air composition adjusting device includes: an oxygen separator that separates oxygen from external air to be supplied to a target space; a gas supply path including a high concentration gas supply path for oxygen through which the oxygen separator communicates with the target space; and a controller that performs an oxygen concentration raising operation of supplying a high oxygen concentration gas, which has a higher oxygen concentration than external air before being treated by the oxygen separator, to the target space through the high concentration gas supply path for oxygen.
