TURBINE BLADE AIRFOIL PROFILE
Various embodiments of the disclosure include turbine blades and systems employing such blades. Various embodiments include a turbine blade having: an airfoil having an airfoil shape having a nominal profile substantially in accordance with at least a portion of Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in TABLE I. The Cartesian coordinate values are non-dimensional values of from 0% to 100% convertible to distances by multiplying the values by a height of the airfoil expressed in units of distance. The X and Y values are connected by smooth continuing arcs to define airfoil profile sections at each distance Z along at least a portion of the airfoil, the profile sections at the Z distances being joined smoothly with one another to form the nominal profile.
System and method for selectively modulating the flow of bleed air used for high pressure turbine stage cooling in a power turbine engine
A method for selectively modulating bleed air used for cooling a downstream turbine section in a gas turbine engine. The method including: measuring an engine and/or aircraft performance parameter by an engine sensor device; comparing the engine and/or aircraft performance parameter to a performance threshold; determining a bleed trigger condition, if the engine and/or aircraft performance parameter crosses the performance threshold; determining a non-cooling condition, if the engine and/or aircraft performance parameter is below the performance threshold; actuating a flow control valve to an open position, in response to the bleed trigger condition, so that bleed air is extracted from the compressor section and flowed to the downstream turbine section; and terminating, in response to the non-cooling condition, the flow of the bleed air to the downstream turbine section of the engine by actuating the flow control valve to a closed position.
First-stage stationary vane of gas turbine and gas turbine
A first-stage stationary vane of a gas turbine includes: a vane portion including a pressure surface and a suction surface; a shroud wall portion which connects to an end portion of the vane portion and which forms a flow passage wall; a pressure-surface side fillet portion disposed on a corner portion formed by the pressure surface and a wall surface of the shroud wall portion; and a suction-surface side fillet portion disposed on a corner portion formed by the suction surface and the wall surface of the shroud wall portion. The pressure-surface side fillet portion and the suction-surface side fillet portion are separated at a leading-edge side of the vane portion so as not to connect to each other.
NOZZLE ASSEMBLY WITH ALTERNATING INSERTED VANES FOR A TURBINE ENGINE
A nozzle assembly for a gas turbine engine and methods for assembling a nozzle assembly are provided. In one example aspect, the nozzle assembly includes an outer wall and an inner wall radially spaced from the outer wall. The outer wall defines a plurality of mounting openings spaced circumferentially from one another. The inner wall defines a plurality of mounting openings spaced circumferentially from one another. The mounting openings defined by the inner wall are positioned circumferentially between adjacent mounting openings defined by the outer wall. The nozzle assembly includes vanes that are inserted through the mounting openings of the outer wall in a radially inward direction and vanes that are inserted through the mounting openings of the inner wall in a radially outward direction in an alternating manner.
Gas turbine engines including tangential on-board injectors and methods for manufacturing the same
Disclosed is a tangential on-board injector (TOBI) system that includes an annulus and a plurality of cooling airflow passages disposed about the annulus. Each cooling airflow passage of the plurality of cooling airflow passages includes an inlet opening having a polygonal inlet cross-section, the inlet opening having an inlet cross-sectional area. Each cooling airflow passage of the plurality of cooling airflow passages further includes an outlet opening having an outlet cross-section and an outlet cross-sectional area. The inlet cross-sectional area is greater in magnitude than the outlet cross-sectional area. Also disclosed are additive manufacturing methods for manufacturing the tangential on-board injector system and gas turbine engines that incorporate the tangential on-board injector system.
TURBINE NOZZLE AIRFORIL AND/OR TRAILING EDGE PROFILE
A turbine nozzle for a gas turbine includes: an airfoil having an airfoil shape having a nominal profile substantially in accordance with at least a portion of Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in TABLE I. The Cartesian coordinate values are non-dimensional values of from 0% to 100% convertible to distances by multiplying the values by a height of the airfoil expressed in units of distance. The X and Y values are connected by smooth continuing arcs that define airfoil profile sections at each distance Z along at least a portion of the airfoil, and the airfoil profile sections at the Z distances are joined smoothly with one another to form the nominal profile. A trailing edge profile for a turbine nozzle is also disclosed.
INTERCOOLED COOLING AIR WITH AUXILIARY COMPRESSOR CONTROL
A gas turbine engine includes a main compressor section with a downstream most location. A turbine section has a high pressure turbine. A tap line is connected to tap air from a location upstream of the downstream most location in the main compressor section. The tapped air is connected to a heat exchanger and then to a cooling compressor. The cooling compressor compresses air downstream of the heat exchanger, and is connected to deliver air into the high pressure turbine. A bypass valve is positioned downstream of the main compressor section, and upstream of the heat exchanger. The bypass valve selectively delivers air directly to the cooling compressor without passing through the heat exchanger under certain conditions.
Geometrically segmented abradable ceramic thermal barrier coating with improved spallation resistance
A turbine article includes a substrate with a geometric surface having a multiple of divots recessed into the substrate, and a ceramic topcoat disposed over the geometric surface, the topcoat including at least a first layer having a first hardness and a second layer having a second hardness, the first hardness different than the second hardness.
