The plurality of nozzle segments are connected to an annular endwall forming a segmented annular endwall concentric to the annular endwall with the at least one vane of each nozzle segment extending between the segmented annular endwall and the annular endwall.
TURBINE COMPONENT AND METHODS OF MAKING AND COOLING A TURBINE COMPONENT
A turbine component includes a root and an airfoil extending from the root to a tip opposite the root. The airfoil forms a leading edge and a trailing edge portion extending to a trailing edge. A plurality of axial cooling channels in the trailing edge portion of the airfoil are arranged to permit axial flow of a cooling fluid from an interior of the turbine component at the trailing edge portion to an exterior of the turbine component at the trailing edge portion. A method of making a turbine component includes forming an airfoil having a trailing edge portion with axial cooling channels. The axial cooling channels are arranged to permit axial flow of a cooling fluid from an interior to an exterior of the turbine component at the trailing edge portion. A method of cooling a turbine component is also disclosed.
Radial cooling channels in the trailing edge portion of the airfoil permit radial flow of a cooling fluid through the trailing edge portion. Each radial cooling channel has a first end at a lower surface at a root edge of the trailing edge portion or at an upper surface at a tip edge of the trailing edge portion and a second end opposite the first end at the lower surface or the upper surface. A method of making a turbine component and a method of cooling a turbine component are also disclosed.
SEAL ELEMENT BONDED TO SEAL CARRIER FOR A TURBINE ENGINE
An assembly is provided for rotational equipment. This assembly includes a metal seal carrier and a carbon seal element. The metal seal carrier includes a receptacle and a cylindrical carrier surface forming an outer peripheral boundary of the receptacle. The carbon seal element is seated in the receptacle. The carbon seal element includes a cylindrical element surface that is brazed to the cylindrical carrier surface.
Freeform deposition method for coolant channel closeout
A method is provided for fabricating a coolant channel closeout jacket on a structure having coolant channels formed in an outer surface thereof. A line of tangency relative to the outer surface is defined for each point on the outer surface. Linear rows of a metal feedstock are directed towards and deposited on the outer surface of the structure as a beam of weld energy is directed to the metal feedstock so-deposited. A first angle between the metal feedstock so-directed and the line of tangency is maintained in a range of 20-90°. The beam is directed towards a portion of the linear rows such that less than 30% of the cross-sectional area of the beam impinges on a currently-deposited one of the linear rows. A second angle between the beam and the line of tangency is maintained in a range of 5-65°.
DIFFUSER HAVING SHAPED VANES
A radial diffuser and method for manufacturing a radial diffuser is provided, where the diffuser includes a vane positioned between a hub and a case. The hub includes a surface. The vane projects from the surface of the hub and is wedge-shaped. The vane includes a leading end extending toward a radial inner edge of the hub, a trailing end extending toward a radial outer edge of the hub, an upper surface, first and second sides extending longitudinally along the vane, and a middle region disposed between the hub and the upper surface. The vane at the upper surface has a thickness defined by a first wedge angle at the upper surface. The vane at the middle region has a thickness defined by a second wedge angle at the middle region. The second wedge angle is smaller than the first wedge angle.
Repaired or remanufactured blade platform for a gas turbine engine
A article of manufacture, the article having a nominal profile substantially in accordance with Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in TABLE 1, and wherein X and Y are distances in inches which, when connected, define profile sections at each distance Z in inches to form a portion of a rotor blade.
Hot gas path component having near wall cooling features
A method for providing micro-channels in a hot gas path component includes forming a first micro-channel in an exterior surface of a substrate of the hot gas path component. A second micro-channel is formed in the exterior surface of the hot gas path component such that it is separated from the first micro-channel by a surface gap having a first width. The method also includes disposing a braze sheet onto the exterior surface of the hot gas path component such that the braze sheet covers at least of portion of the first and second micro-channels, and heating the braze sheet to bond it to at least a portion of the exterior surface of the hot gas path component.
Axially oriented internally mounted continuous ignition device: removable hot surface igniter
An embodiment of a combustor for a gas turbine engine includes a combustor case, a combustor liner disposed within the combustor case, a fuel nozzle at an upstream end of the combustor liner, a torch igniter at least partially within the combustor case, and a removable surface igniter. The torch igniter includes a combustion chamber, a cap configured to receive a fuel injector, a tip, an annular igniter wall extending from the cap to the tip and defining a radial extent of the combustion chamber, an aperture, a structural wall coaxial with and surrounding the igniter wall, and an outlet passage within the tip which fluidly connects the combustion chamber to the combustor. The torch igniter is configured to receive the removable surface igniter through the aperture. An internal end of the removable surface igniter extends through the aperture into the combustion chamber of the torch igniter.
