Structural Object Having Substrate Surfacially Protected and Integrally Clad with Metallic Glass Sheet
A structural object includes a substrate integrally clad with a metallic glass sheet by adhering, welding or joining the metallic glass sheet on the substrate for a low-cost, flexible and convenient fabrication, assembly, processing or construction of the object.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUSES FOR REDUCING HYDRODYNAMIC FRICTIONAL DRAG
Systems, methods and apparatuses are provided for the reduction of hydrodynamic frictional drag. These systems, methods and apparatuses can include a vessel surface having an external layer and a plurality of dimples, wherein the external layer comprises a hydrophilic material, and wherein each of the dimples includes an inner surface having a superhydrophobic coating. The dimples can be configured to maintain an air-water interface as one or more fluids flow over the vessel surface. In some embodiments, a pressure reservoir can be coupled with the dimples, and can include an acoustic speaker to vibrate the air-water interface.
Adjustable water flow deflection device for a watercraft and methods of use
A water flow deflection device to enhance a watercraft's wake. An elongated base with two ends is aligned along the side of the watercraft. The base has a deflector interface with concentrically arranged teeth. A deflector assembly is operably attached to the base between the two ends, with a face that deflects water. The deflector's leading end is closer to the watercraft than the trailing end. The deflector assembly has a base interface with concentrically arranged teeth. Two or more suction cup assemblies attach to the elongated base to provide removable attachment, with one attached between a first end and the deflector interface and another attached between a second end and the deflector interface. The concentrically arranged teeth of the deflector interface and the base interface operably interlock, allowing rotational adjustment of the deflector relative to the base.
FLOW LINE INSERT WITH INDENTATIONS
An example implementation of the subject matter described within this disclosure is a thermowell with the following features. A body has a closed end, an open end, an outer surface, and defining an interior cavity starting prior to the closed end and terminating at the open end. The outer surface defines dimples that reduce vibration in response to vortex shedding.
Devices, system and associated methods for aerodynamic drag reduction using tribodynamic cells
The approach to the current problem of plastic deformation on the walls of the transportation truck is the development of a tribodynamic cell. This geometrically manufactured shape is able to reduce the force of more than 60.00% in a truck, more than 80.00% as a unit cell at standard speeds, and 90.00% at sonic range velocities. This reduction signifies an economic savings in fuel, service life of the transportation system, as well as reducing the carbon footprint locally and worldwide. Strategically, the tribodynamic cell embodiments convert the immediate surrounding airflow into a surface capable of lowering friction drastically and achieving supersonic speeds in half the time compared to a surface without the geometrically enhanced approach.
Insertion magnetic meters and methods
A magnetic insertion meter is disclosed herein. Disclosed insertion meters include in some examples, a sensor head tube having a textured front surface and at least two electrodes. Disclosed insertion meters include a textured front surface adapted to move the separation point of a fluid flowing over the sensor head tube towards the upstream surface as compared to the same sensor head tube without the textured front surface. Methods of measuring flow are also disclosed herein using example magnetic insertion meters.
INTEGRATED SURFACE TREATMENT FOR DRAG AND NOISE REDUCTION
An aerodynamic component having an aerodynamic surface having a first side facing a fluid flow in a flow direction, and a second side opposed to the first side; at least one resonant cavity on the second side of the surface; at least one rib on the first side of the surface and aligned in the flow direction, the at least one rib extending away from the first side of the surface and defining channels on either side of the at least one rib; and at least one perforation connecting a channel on the surface with the at least one resonant cavity.
