A boot is provided in which the formation of an internal pressure inside the boot during assembly is prevented. The boot has a first fastening region and a first diameter and having a second fastening region with a second diameter, wherein the first diameter is smaller than the second diameter, and wherein the first fastening region comprises a binder seat region on its outer circumference, wherein at an inner circumference of the first fastening region at least one first and at least one second aerating means are arranged axially spaced from each other at the inner circumference which is formed with a flat surface, and protrude beyond said surface of the inner circumference.

A dust boot for a suspension assembly, particularly a ball joint, includes a side wall with at least one relief opening and a cover that overlies the at least one relief opening.

SEAL AND VENT ASSEMBLY FOR A VEHICLE DRIVELINE
20200003263 · 2020-01-02 ·

A seal and vent assembly for a constant velocity joint including a vent plate for being disposed in a compartment of the constant velocity joint. The vent plate defines a mounting aperture. A vent valve is received in the mounting aperture for sealing the compartment of the constant velocity joint. The vent valve has a body portion extending along an axis and received by the mounting aperture and a rim portion extending from the body portion into engagement with, and biased against the vent plate. The vent valve defines a chamber between the rim portion, the body portion and the vent plate. A venting channel fluidly connects the chamber of the vent valve and the compartment of the constant velocity joint. The vent plate defines the at least one venting channel.

CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT WITH VENT SLEEVE

A constant velocity joint includes a shaft. The constant velocity joint also includes a boot member. The boot member covers a portion of the shaft. A corrosion resistant sleeve is disposed intermediate the shaft and the boot member. The sleeve includes a vent channel. The vent channel is formed only in an outer surface of the sleeve.

CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT WITH COOPERATING BOOT AND SHAFT VENT CHANNELS

A constant velocity joint includes a shaft and an inner race coupled to the shaft. The inner race has a shaft groove formed thereon. A boot assembly engages the shaft and covers the inner race. A pair of grooves is axially formed in the boot assembly. The shaft groove provides communication between the pair of grooves.

GREASE SEALING STRUCTURE OF CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT OF VEHICLE, AND CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT INCLUDING SAME

A grease sealing structure provides sealing grease filled between an outer race and an inner race of a constant velocity joint and includes: a boot formed to be closely fitted and supported on both the outer race and the inner race; a clamping cap configured to be fastened to the outer race so that a movement in an axial direction of the outer race is limited and to press the boot in the axial direction of the outer race to ensure the boot to be tightly fitted to the outer race; and a sealing ring configured to be fastened to the boot to press the boot against an outer circumferential surface of the inner race.

Vented driveline joint

A joint for coupling two shafts in a vehicle driveline includes a joint part having a bore defining part of a fluid chamber, a boot member coupled to the joint part and defining at least part of the fluid chamber and having a valve portion that has an open state and a closed state, and an insert. The insert may be received adjacent to the boot member and defines at least part of a vent path that communicates the fluid chamber with the valve portion. When the valve portion is in the closed state venting from the vent chamber is inhibited or prevented and when the valve portion is in the open state the vent chamber is communicated with a venting space.

Center shaft vented CVJ

A drivetrain assembly for a motor vehicle including a venting system. The drivetrain assembly includes an output shaft from a vehicle prime moreover component such as a transmission or transaxle. The output shaft is coupled to a propeller shaft through a constant velocity joint (CVJ) assembly. A flexible sealing boot encloses the CVJ between the output shaft and the propeller shaft. Internal components of the CVJ are vented by a first longitudinal passageway exposed to the internal volume of the CVJ extending longitudinally along the output shaft. A second radial passageway joins the longitudinal passageway and extends to the radially outer surface of the output shaft forming a second aperture. The passageways combine to provide pressure equalization between the CVJ internal volume and the atmosphere. An optional semi-permeable membrane may be mounted at the second aperture.

Sealing system for constant-velocity joint

A constant-velocity joint includes an outer race, inner race, end cap, and seal. The outer race defines a cavity, an opening to the cavity, and a through hole configured to receive a fastener. The inner race is disposed within the cavity and is rotatably connected to the outer race via a plurality of ball bearings. The end cap is secured to the outer race and covers the opening. The seal is disposed between the outer race and the end cap. The seal defines a channel that is in fluid communication with the cavity and the through hole. The channel is configured to vent air between the cavity and through hole.

Boot with insert

A boot assembly for a constant velocity joint includes a boot having a neck portion arranged to be received over a shaft that is coupled to the constant velocity joint, and a retainer or insert which may include a vent. The retainer or insert may be carried by the neck portion and has at least one flex feature to facilitate flexing thereof. The insert may have at least one projection that extends radially inwardly from the neck portion and defines part of an inner surface of the boot, or at least one vent path defined therein to facilitate venting of one or more chambers defined at least in part by the boot.
