Brake clutch connection

A transmission is provided. The transmission may include a planetary gearset. The transmission may also include a thrust hub that may be fixed to the planetary gearset and engaged with a thrust bearing. A clutch hub may be connected with and spaced away from the thrust hub such that the thrust and clutch hubs are not in contact with each other to reduce vibration transfer between the thrust and clutch hubs.

A transfer case includes a primary output shaft, a secondary output shaft, a clutch, and a hub. The clutch includes a plurality of interleaved plates for selectively rotationally coupling the primary output shaft to the secondary output shaft. The hub rotationally couples the primary output shaft and the clutch. The hub includes an outer annular member and an inner annular member. The inner annular member is rotatable within the outer annular member for the hub to selectively release oil into the clutch.

CLUTCH HUB ASSEMBLY

An improved clutch hub assembly is disclosed. The improved clutch hub assembly provides improved wear resistance at the interfaces between separator plates and a clutch hub while allowing an operator to have improved clutch lever control and modulation when manually engaging or disengaging the clutch system.

CLUTCH CARRIER FOR A TRANSMISSION

A clutch carrier includes a first component and a second component. The first component has an undulating ring, a cylindrical ring, and a connector portion. The undulating ring has an inner surface, and an outer surface for mating engagement with a clutch plate spline. The connector portion is between the undulating ring and the cylindrical ring. A plurality of apertures are defined at least partially in the connector portion. The second component has a first radial wall, a plurality of segments, and a plurality of formable tabs. The plurality of segments extend axially from the first radial wall and contact at least a portion of the inner surface to radially position the second component within the first component. The plurality of formable tabs extend from the first radial wall through the plurality of apertures.

The invention relates to a friction plate (10) having a basic body (5 or 9), which is formed from at least one strip (11), deviating from the circular-ring shape.

Zero backlash pre-damper to main damper attachment system

A driven damper assembly, comprises a first main-damper cover plate comprising an inclined portion. The inclined portion comprises a notch. A first plane passes through the first pre-damper cover plate. A second plane passes through the first main-damper cover plate and is parallel to the first plane. The notch comprises a first wall and a second wall. The first wall is not parallel to the second wall. The inclined portion extends away from the second plane at an angle greater than zero degrees away from the second plane and less than ninety degrees away from the second plane. The first pre-damper cover plate comprises a tab with a first portion extending outwardly at an angle greater than zero degrees away from the first plane and less than ninety degrees away from the first plane, wherein the tab engages the notch at the first wall and the second wall.

A transfer case comprises a primary output shaft, a secondary output shaft, a clutch, and a plurality of valves. The primary output shaft includes a hub rotationally coupled thereto. The clutch selectively couples the primary output shaft to the secondary output shaft to transfer torque therebetween. The clutch includes a housing, interleaved plates, and an apply plate. The housing is rotationally coupled to the secondary output shaft. The interleaved plates alternate between a first subset of the interleaved plates rotationally coupled to the hub and a second subset of the interleaved plates rotationally coupled to the housing. The apply plate compresses the interleaved plates for transferring torque between the hub and the housing. The valves selectively release oil supplied through the primary output shaft into the housing. Each valve includes a bore formed in the hub and a valve rod movable by the apply plate to open the valve.

Input Drum For Transmissions For Motor Vehicles
20190113118 · 2019-04-18 ·

An input drum of an automotive transmission for motor vehicles is formed from a plurality of components assembled together. The input drum has a hub having outwardly extending tabs, and a clutch cylinder having internal grooves for receiving the tabs when the hub is assembled to the clutch cylinder. The hub and the clutch cylinder are arranged such that openings in the hub and openings in an inwardly extending circumferential flange of the clutch cylinder are in axial alignment when the tabs of the hub are received in the internal grooves of the clutch cylinder. The hub and clutch cylinder are assembled together by connecting elements extending through the aligned openings in the hub and clutch cylinder. An input shaft is permanently or removably attached to the hub.

Clutch assembly for automatic transmission

A clutch for an automatic transmission includes a clutch pack having a first set of friction disks interleaved with a second set of friction disks. The clutch further includes an annulus having an outer surface connected to the first friction disks and an inner surface. The annulus defines oil holes extending from the inner surface to the outer surface to permit oil to flow from the inner surface to the clutch pack. Air passageways are defined in the annulus and extend through the annulus permitting air to flow from the inner surface to the clutch pack to reduce drag losses between the first and second sets of disks. Each of the air passageways have an entrance that is radially inboard of an entrance of each of the oil holes.
