A brake adjuster with a housing configured to be coupled to a brake actuator push rod, and a control unit rotatably coupled to the housing. The control unit is configured to be coupled to a reference point of a vehicle and to cause adjustment of the brake as the brake actuator push rod retracts. One of the housing and the control unit has a first indicator and a second indicator, and the other of the housing and the control unit has a third indicator. The third indicator is adjacent the first indicator when the brake actuator push rod is retracted in a brake disengaged position, and the third indicator is adjacent the second indicator when the brake actuator push rod is extended to a brake over-stroke position. The indicators may be any combination of notches, protrusions, marks, or pointers.

A self-adjusting automatic slack adjuster for reducing slack in the brake of a vehicle includes an adjuster link having a resilient portion. When a brake application force being applied to the slack adjuster exceeds a level that could result in brake application linkage damage as a result of the slack adjuster's slack adjustment mechanism having reached a travel limit, the resilient portion of the adjuster link permits the axial length of the adjuster link to change to accommodate the high brake application force in order to minimize or preclude damage to the brake application linkage.

The invention relates to a brake lever (20) for a drum brake arrangement (12), said brake lever being designed for transmitting the movement of a cylinder rod (14) to a brake shaft (22), wherein the brake lever (20) comprises a first portion (20a) delimiting a hole (24) for fitting the brake shaft (22) and a second portion (20b), which is configured to be pivotally connected to the cylinder rod (14) and wherein the first portion and the second portion are offset from each other with respect to a central axis (X24) of the hole (24). The brake lever further includes a stiffening member (28) that extends along a direction (L1) contained inside a plane (P1) perpendicular to the central axis (X24) of the hole and that includes an orifice (32) for fitting the brake shaft (22).

The invention is for automatic slack adjuster for an automobile with a housing having an aperture for receiving a brake cam shaft comprising of a worm gear coaxially mounted within the said housing aperture and configured to coaxially engage the brake cam shaft, such that the said worm gear and said cam shaft rotating together about a first axis. The arrangement has a bore with a single open end for receiving a worm clutch shaft. The said worm clutch shaft is mounted in the said housing to rotate about a second axis, which is perpendicular to first axis. The invention has only one side opening. The thrust load from the worm shaft is transferred through the thrust bush through the main housing of the assembly.

The invention is for automatic slack adjuster for an automobile with a housing having an aperture for receiving a brake cam shaft comprising of a worm gear coaxially mounted within the said housing aperture and configured to coaxially engage the brake cam shaft, such that the said worm gear and said cam shaft rotating together about a first axis. The arrangement has a bore with a single open end for receiving a worm clutch shaft. The said worm clutch shaft is mounted in the said housing to rotate about a second axis, which is perpendicular to first axis. The invention has only one side opening. The thrust load from the worm shaft is transferred through the thrust bush through the main housing of the assembly.
SLACK ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY FOR DRUM BRAKING SYSTEMS
A slack adjuster assembly for use with a heavy-duty vehicle drum brake system, the slack adjuster assembly comprising a slack adjuster, a cam tube assembly, and an interlock assembly. The interlock assembly is disposed on an outboard side of the slack adjuster and interconnects the cam tube assembly with the slack adjuster. A component of the interlock assembly and a component of the cam tube assembly cooperate to form a rotation reference mechanism for indexing of an automatic adjustment mechanism of the slack adjuster. The slack adjuster assembly further comprising an inboard sealing assembly and an outboard sealing assembly engaging respective inboard and outboard sides of the slack adjuster to form respective 360-degree interfaces. The cam tube assembly, interlock assembly, and inboard and outboard sealing assemblies forming a continuous grease pathway between the cam tube assembly and the slack adjuster.

A clearance sensing vehicle brake slack adjuster includes a housing coupled to a brake actuator and supporting a driving worm wheel engaging the brake cam shaft and a driving worm screw having a threaded portion meshed with the driving worm wheel and transferring a brake actuating force, imparted by the brake actuator to the housing, to the driving worm wheel and cam shaft. A wear adjustment mechanism for the adjuster includes a control worm wheel and a clutch ring disposed about the driving worm screw and a wrap spring engaging surfaces of the control worm wheel and the clutch ring. The control worm wheel is in mesh with a control worm screw. The clutch ring is disposed on a side of the control worm wheel opposite the threaded portion of the driving worm screw and includes teeth engaging corresponding teeth on the driving worm screw.

A clearance sensing vehicle brake slack adjuster includes a housing coupled to a brake actuator and supporting a driving worm wheel engaging the brake cam shaft and a driving worm screw having a threaded portion meshed with the driving worm wheel and transferring a brake actuating force, imparted by the brake actuator to the housing, to the driving worm wheel and cam shaft. A wear adjustment mechanism for the adjuster includes a control worm wheel and a clutch ring disposed about the driving worm screw and a wrap spring engaging surfaces of the control worm wheel and the clutch ring. The control worm wheel is in mesh with a control worm screw. The clutch ring is disposed on a side of the control worm wheel opposite the threaded portion of the driving worm screw and includes teeth engaging corresponding teeth on the driving worm screw.
