TEMPERATURE-BASED CLUTCH PROTECTION FROM CENTRIFUGAL HEAD PRESSURE INHIBITING CLUTCH DISENGAGEMENT

A system of a work vehicle includes an engine, a transmission that includes a hydrostatic unit, and a clutch coupled to the transmission. The system also includes a controller communicatively coupled to the engine, the transmission, and the clutch. The controller, in operation, receives a command to disengage the clutch. The controller, in operation, determines an engine speed of the engine. The controller, in operation, also determines a temperature of hydraulic fluid in the clutch. The controller, in operation, further determines a magnitude and time to limit acceleration of the work vehicle based on the engine speed and the temperature. The controller, in operation, also commands the clutch to disengage. The controller, in operation, further limits the acceleration of the work vehicle using the hydrostatic unit based on the magnitude for the time determined.

A vehicle includes a drive source, driving wheels driven by a driving force output from the drive source, and a clutch disposed between the drive source and the driving wheels. The clutch is switchable to an arbitrary fastening position between a connection state enabling transmission of the driving force between the drive source and the driving wheels, and a disconnection state disconnecting the transmission. A clutch actuator applies a fastening load to the clutch and provides a torque transmission capacity corresponding to the fastening load to the clutch. A controller controls operation of the drive source and operation of the clutch actuator. The controller includes a clutch temperature estimation circuit estimating the temperature of the clutch, and a driving force adjustment circuit performing driving force adjustment control to adjust the driving force transmitted to the downstream side of the clutch based on the estimated temperature of the clutch.

A method for operating a drive train of a vehicle having a clutch assembly, in particular for distributing torque to a primary axle and a secondary axle of the vehicle and/or for distributing torque between two wheels of one axle of the vehicle, comprises at least the following steps:

a) determining temperature data at least from an electronic control unit which is assigned to the clutch assembly, or from an actuation unit of the clutch assembly;
b) evaluating the temperature data determined in step a); and
c) reducing an effective value of a control current at least of the electronic control unit or of the actuation unit by pulsing the control current if the evaluation in step b) reveals that a temperature at least of the electronic control unit or of the actuation unit exceeds a threshold value.

Disclosed is a method for protecting a vehicle clutch, including a check step for checking the mileage of a vehicle and the number of times a clutch wear compensation device is operated; after the check step, a calculation step for calculating a clutch thermal severity level, which indicates the degree of thermal severity of the clutch, based on the mileage and the number of times the wear compensation device is operated; and a control step for controlling at least one of the shifting pattern of the vehicle and engine RPM depending on the clutch thermal severity level, after the calculation step.

DETERMINATION OF A CLUTCH TEMPERATURE

A hybrid drive including a first drive motor coupled by a clutch to a shaft, and a second drive motor coupled rigidly to the shaft. A method for determining the temperature of the clutch in the hybrid drive includes the steps of: determining a temperature of the clutch; determining a temperature of the clutch housing; determining the temperature difference between the clutch and the clutch housing; determining the heat conductivity between the clutch and the clutch housing, wherein the heat conductivity is determined as a function of the rotational speed of the first drive motor and the rotational speed of the second drive motor; determining the heat flow between the clutch and the clutch housing on the basis of the product of the heat conductivity and the temperature difference; and adjusting the ascertained clutch temperature on the basis of the ascertained heat flow.
