METHOD FOR SYNCHRONIZATION CONTROL OF RAPID CONNECT AWD SYSTEMS

A method of controlling an all-wheel-drive system connect event including providing a power transmission apparatus having a clutch, a propeller shaft, and a rear drive unit with a clutch pack assembly. The rear drive unit clutch pack is actuated by creating a model of the propeller shaft rotational speed, adapting the model parameters to compensate for temperature and vehicle wheel speed, storing the model, adapting the model utilizing information collected during a previous all-wheel-drive system connect event, and developing a set point for the clutch driving element utilizing the model and a multi-loop control architecture. The power transmission apparatus clutch is then engaged.

METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR

A method for adjusting and adapting an operating point of a hydraulic actuator arrangement, in which a volume flow source is connected to a hydraulic cylinder via a pressure line that is filled with a hydraulic fluid. The method includes regulating a volume of the hydraulic fluid by the volume flow source, wherein an operating point of a position of the actuator arrangement corresponds, with respect to a predefined parameter, to a device which is to be actuated by the actuator arrangement. A modified volume of the hydraulic fluid which is necessary to adjust the operating point is derived from a rotational position of a volume flow source motor and/or of the volume flow source.

A method for controlling clutch pressure in an electronically controlled limited slip differential comprises receiving a target clutch pressure command indicative of a desired differential torque transfer setting. Processing the target clutch pressure command comprises estimating one of a motor current or a motor speed, calculating an integrated error of a target motor current or an integrated error of a target motor speed, calculating gains over time based on the estimated motor current or the estimated motor speed and based on the integrated error of the target motor current or the integrated error of the target motor speed, applying the calculated gains thereby forming a closed loop feedback, and calculating an oscillation. The target motor current or the target motor speed is applied to a motor connected to a clutch in the differential according to the calculated oscillation to control the clutch pressure of the differential.

A control device of a wheel loader obtains a first ratio between a value corresponding to a target traveling distance for the wheel loader, when it travels to a discharge position where an excavated substance is discharged after an excavation with a bucket, and a value corresponding to a target elevation amount for an elevation of a boom after a motion is started. The control device also obtains a second ratio between a value corresponding to an actual traveling distance after the wheel loader starts its motion to the position where the excavated substance is discharged after the excavation with the bucket, and a value corresponding to an actual elevation amount of the boom after the motion is started. The control device then controls a transmission toque transmitted to a drive wheel from an engine in order that a difference between the first ratio and the second ratio becomes zero.

A method for controlling a clutch includes judging whether or not a slip amount of the clutch is reduced to below a first reference value by a controller after starting of the vehicle is launched, judging whether or not accumulated slip energy of the clutch until a present time from the launch of starting the vehicle is a second reference value or more, as a result of judgment as to the slip amount of the clutch, if the slip amount of the clutch is below the first reference value, and controlling engagement of the clutch so as to prevent overheating of the clutch while the controller causes an engine to maintain a target engine speed, as a result of the judgment as to the accumulated slip energy, if the accumulated slip energy is the second reference value or more.

CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

In an aspect, a method is provided for controlling a clutch assembly having first and second rotatable clutch members. The method includes providing a wrap spring clutch having first and second ends. The phase angle between the first and second ends determines a diameter of the wrap spring clutch. One of the clutch members is connected with the first end. The method further includes obtaining a target value indicative of a target speed for the second clutch member, and determining through measurement an actual value that is indicative of an actual speed of the second clutch member. The method further includes changing the phase angle between the first and second ends of the wrap spring clutch to generate a selected amount of slip between the wrap spring clutch and the other of the first and second clutch members, based on the target value and the actual value.
