A damper assembly for a torque converter is provided. The damper assembly includes a first cover plate including a spring retainer at a radial outer end of the first cover plate supporting springs; and a second cover plate including, at a radial outer end thereof, tabs for the springs, the tabs being in circumferential spaces between the springs The spring retainer and the tabs are fixed together inside the spring retainer. A method of forming a damper assembly is also provided. The method includes fixing a spring retainer at a radial outer end of a first cover plate to tabs at a radially outer end of a second cover plate inside the spring retainer. The tabs are in circumferential spaces between springs retained by the spring retainer.

Damper assebmly sealing arrangement

A damper assembly for a motor vehicle drive train is provided. The damper assembly includes a spring retainer retaining arc springs; an engine-side cover for connecting to an engine crankshaft, the spring retainer being fixed to the engine-side cover; and a seal configuration between the engine-side cover and the spring retainer. The seal configuration, the engine-side cover and the spring retainer define an arc spring cavity for lubricating fluid to lubricate the arc springs. The seal configuration is configured to prevent lubricating fluid from radially exiting the arc spring cavity during rotation of the damper assembly about a center axis thereof. A method of forming a damper assembly is also provided.

DAMPER WITH INTEGRATED CENTRIFUGAL PENDULUM-TYPE VIBRATION ABSORBING DEVICE

A damper with an integrated centrifugal pendulum-type vibration absorbing device is equipped with a drive plate for transmitting engine torque to a transmission. The drive plate has a stepped shape toward the annular outer edge. An annular side plate makes sliding contact with the outermost edge of the drive plate. An annular hub clutch is held between the side plate and the inside annular portion of the drive plate. Multiple torsion springs are arranged such that at least one end makes sliding contact with the hub clutch. A back plate grips the sides of the torsion springs, and is connected to the drive plate. Centrifugal pendulum-type vibration absorbing devices are mounted on a disc-shaped and circular back plate. Centrifugal pendulum-type vibration absorbing devices are mounted on the outer circumferential side of the back plate.

In a method of assembling a damper device, a first support portion of a first rotor and a first accommodation portion of a second rotor are overlapped to eliminate an axial offset between them. A first elastic member is placed in the first support portion and the first accommodation portion. A second support portion of the first rotor and a second accommodation portion of the second rotor are overlapped to eliminate an axial offset between them by simultaneously compressing the first elastic member and rotating the second rotor relative to the first rotor to a first-side in a rotational direction. A second elastic member is placed in the second support portion and the second accommodation portion. Simultaneously, the second elastic member is compressed and the second rotor is rotated relative to the first rotor to a second-side in the rotational direction by angle corresponding to the offset between the first support portion and the first accommodation portion.
