LUBRICANT DRAIN CONDUIT FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINE
20210047941 · 2021-02-18 ·

An assembly for a gas turbine engine having: static and rotating components; a seal between the static and rotating components, and between a cavity and an environment outside thereof, the cavity having an inlet fluidly connectable to a source of lubricant and an outlet fluidly connectable to a scavenge pump for drawing lubricant out of the cavity; and a drain conduit having a drain inlet outside the cavity in proximity to the seal for receiving leaked lubricant, and a drain outlet fluidly connected to the outlet of the cavity, the drain outlet located in proximity to a scavenge inlet via which the lubricant exits the cavity to flow toward the scavenge pump such that, in use, a lubricant flow within the drain conduit is entrained by the lubricant exiting the cavity via the scavenge inlet.

Gearbox lubrication system for aircraft

A gearbox for a rotary wing aircraft including a sump, a primary lubricant reservoir fluidically connected to the sump, one or more primary lubricant jets fluidically connected to the primary lubricant reservoir, an auxiliary lubricant reservoir fluidically connected to the sump, one or more auxiliary lubricant jets fluidically connected to the auxiliary lubricant reservoir, and at least one valve selectively fluidically connecting the sump and the primary lubricant reservoir based on a first lubricant pressure and the sump and the auxiliary lubricant reservoir based on a second lubricant pressure at the at least one valve.

LOADING VEHICLE STRUCTURE

A device for the deaeration of a hydraulic fluid of a hydraulic system has at least one hydraulic motor arrangement and a hydraulic fluid storage which is hydraulically coupled with this hydraulic motor arrangement. A suction device for sucking out the hydraulic fluid is associated with the at least one hydraulic motor arrangement such that the suction device guides hydraulic fluid out of the hydraulic motor arrangement into the hydraulic fluid storage by means of vacuum pressure (p). The suction device is constructed as a jet pump and is integrated in the return line between the hydraulic motor arrangement and hydraulic fluid storage.

METHOD OF RETROFITTING A GEAR BOX ASSEMBLY WITH AN EMERGENCY LUBRICATION SYSTEM

A method of retrofitting a gear box assembly with an emergency lubrication system includes removing plugs from visual inspection ports of a gearbox housing, removing a breather from a breather port of the gearbox housing, and installing jet plugs into the respective visual inspection ports and breather port, wherein each jet plug includes a respective jet tube.

Gearbox with passive lubrication system

A lubrication system includes a reserve housing configured to retain a lubrication fluid. A supply line in fluid communication with the reserve housing is configured to provide pressurized lubrication fluid to the reserve housing. An overflow tube has an overflow port, the overflow tube being configured to prevent the volume of the lubrication fluid from exceeding a certain amount. A metering jet is configured to allow the lubrication fluid to flow from the reserve housing onto a component, such as a bearing, in the gearbox at a predetermined rate. The metering jet provides flow of the lubrication fluid onto the bearing even when the supply line no longer provides pressurized lubrication fluid to the reserve housing.

LUBRICATION SYSTEMS FOR TRANSMISSIONS

A lubrication system for a transmission includes a flow-metering device and a controller. The controller is operatively associated with the flow-metering device to cause the flow-metering device to intermittently issue lubricant from the flow-metering device into a transmission based on an operating parameter of the transmission.

A gearbox assembly with emergency lubrication system includes a housing with an interior including a lubricant sump. The housing includes a breather port and a visual inspection port. The breather port is sized for at least one of relieving internal pressure or admitting air. The visual inspection port is located to allow visual inspection of a component in an interior of the housing. A transmission is disposed within the interior of the housing in fluid communication with the lubricant sump. An emergency lubricant reservoir is in fluid communication with the transmission through the breather port and/or the visual inspection port. A method of retrofitting a gear box assembly with an emergency lubrication system includes removing plugs from visual inspection ports of a gearbox housing, removing a breather from a breather port of the gearbox housing, and installing jet plugs into the respective visual inspection ports and breather port.
