Vapor permeable water and fire-resistant expansion joint seal with internal wave pattern
10941563 · 2021-03-09 · ·

The present disclosure relates generally to systems for providing a durable water-resistant and fire-resistant foam-based seal in the joint between adjacent panels. A fire-resistant and water-resistant expansion joint seal is provided which includes one or more foam members and a plurality of intumescent members within the foam member or members to provide a spring recovery force and fire resistance.

Fire-Resistant Seal Assemblies

The present invention provides fire-resistant seal assemblies that are particularly suited for use in hydraulic components in fire zones. The fire-resistant seal assemblies include a first seal made from an elastomeric material; a first anti-extrusion seal having a first seal-facing surface for receiving the first seal and defining a groove extending therealong, and an exterior surface having a truncated V-shaped portion with beveled end portions in a longitudinal cross sectional view; at least one second anti-extrusion seal having a second seal-facing surface for receiving the first anti-extrusion seal and defining a groove extending therealong, and an exterior surface having a truncated V-shaped portion with beveled end portions in a longitudinal cross sectional view; and at least one backer ring having a third seal-facing surface for receiving the second anti-extrusion seal and defining a groove extending therealong, and an exterior surface having a truncated V-shaped configuration in a longitudinal cross sectional view.

Single-layer ceramic-based knit fabric for high temperature bulb seals

Knit fabrics having ceramic strands, thermal protective members formed therefrom and to their methods of construction are disclosed. Methods for fabricating thermal protection using multiple materials which may be concurrently knit are also disclosed. This unique capability to knit high temperature ceramic fibers concurrently with a load-relieving process aid, such as an inorganic or organic material (e.g., metal alloy or polymer), both small diameter wires within the knit as well as large diameter wires which provide structural support and allow for the creation of near net-shape preforms at production level speed. Additionally, ceramic insulation can also be integrated concurrently to provide increased thermal protection.

Sealant having fireworthy properties for use with aircraft parts

Fireworthy sealants may have a variety of compositions and be made by a variety of techniques. In certain implementations, a fireworthy sealant may include a body comprised of a cured, tacky, soft, deformable non-adhesive gel. The gel body may have an upper surface, a lower surface, and a perimeter, wherein the upper and lower surfaces of the gel body, in an uncompressed state, define a body thickness. The sealant may, in an uncompressed state, be dimensioned to fit in a first opening between a wall and an aircraft component surface and deformable when under compression to fit in a second opening, smaller than the first opening. The sealant may be flame retardant and produce low smoke density and low smoke toxicity.

FIRE SEAL ASSEMBLIES FOR AIRCRAFT ENGINES
20200392902 · 2020-12-17 ·

Fire seal assemblies for aircraft engines are described herein. An example fire seal assembly includes a first L-cap having a first leg and a second leg extending outward from the first leg, and a second L-cap having a third leg and a fourth leg extending outward from the third leg. The first and third legs are to be coupled to a core service disconnect (CSD) on a pylon of an aircraft, and the second and fourth legs are to extend outward and engage sides of a firewall of an engine of the aircraft. The first seal assembly further includes a seal coupled to the first and third legs and disposed between the second and fourth legs, a first end plug disposed between a first end of the seal and the second leg, and a second end plug disposed between a second end of the seal and the fourth leg.

Joint seal system with winged barrier
10851897 · 2020-12-01 · ·

An integral multilayer joint seal. Layers of foam, layered co-planar to the adjacent surface, are interspersed with a barrier layer which extends beyond the foam layers to provide a protective surface, a surface for attachment atop adjacent substrates, or a connecting tab for use with adjacent joint seals. The foam layers may be uncompressed or partially compressed at the time of joint formation and may be composed of open or closed, or hybrid, cell foam. The foam may be impregnated with a fire retardant or may be composed of a fire retardant material, if desired. The barrier may have a tensile strength greater than the adjacent foam. The joint seal may have an elastomer, such as silicone, at its top and/or bottom, and may even include an elastomer layer within or about the barrier.

Joint seal system with shaped barrier and wings

An expansion joint seal proving a flexible barrier therethrough in a concave shape with a first body of compressible foam on one side and a second body of compressible foam on the other side, where the barrier extends laterally from the first body and second body and may be used to protect the sides of the expansion joint seal or may be used to provide contact on the surface of each adjacent substrate.

Joint seal with body extensions
20200347590 · 2020-11-05 · ·

A system for creating a durable water-resistant seal in the joint between adjacent panels. A durable foam-based expansion seal system provides contacting surfaces which are not planar by inclusion of extensions or second bodies and which therefore provide localized areas of higher density.

SEAL FOR A DRYER

The invention relates to a seal for a clothes dryer adapted to be interposed between a first part and a second part of the dryer. The seal comprises a first portion adapted to be connected to the first part of the dryer and a second portion adapted to be placed in contact with the second part of the dryer. The second portion comprises an at least partially curved stretch and such an at least partially curved stretch comprises a flocked surface layer adapted to be placed in contact with said second part of the dryer.

Seal system and method for bolted track used in conveyorized baking ovens
10647515 · 2020-05-12 · ·

A seal system and method for a bolted track such as a baking system conveyor track. The seal system provides a seal between a pair of track pieces being coupled end-to-end to one another. The seal system includes flanges attached near the ends of the track pieces and a gasket compressed between the flanges when the track pieces are coupled to form a seal. In example embodiments, the gasket is attached to a track plate. The track plate is coupled between the flanges and is configured to shield the gasket from heat and direct flame. The seal system optionally also includes a joint cover affixed to the bottom of the coupled flanges to form a secondary seal.
