At least one groove is formed on the other side of the flange portion of the slinger. At least one circumferential-direction projection is formed on an inner peripheral surface of the end-face lip. The circumferential-direction projection extends in an annular shape around the axis line and projects between the inner peripheral surface of the end-face lip and a surface of the flange portion on the other side.

Contacting dry face seal with tapered carbon nose

A face seal assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a seal body having a seal face defining a contact area disposed between tapered sides. The seal body defines an axial width between a back surface of the seal body and the seal face. A decrease in the axial width from wear increases the contact area. A bearing assembly and method are also disclosed.

MECHANICAL SEAL ARRANGMENT WITH MINIMAL LEAKAGE

The invention relates to a mechanical seal assembly comprising a mechanical seal with a rotating slide ring (3) and a stationary slide ring (2), wherein one of the two slide rings has a first slide surface (30), wherein the other of the two slide rings has a second slide surface (20) with a circumferentially closed sealing blade (22) which protrudes from a bottom region (21) of the second slide surface in the direction of the first slide surface (30) by a height (H), wherein the sealing blade (22) has a width (B) in a range of between 10 and 500 m, wherein at least one pre-tensioning element (4) braces the slide rings against each other, wherein the second slide surface (20) and the sealing blade (22) on the second slide surface (20) have a diamond coating, or wherein the second slide surface (20) and the sealing blade (22) on the second slide surface (20) have a coating of cubic boron nitride, and wherein an OH.sup.-ion donor (10) and or an H+ ion donor (10) is present between the first slide surface (30) and the second slide surface (20).

A seal assembly for a pump comprises a gland housing mounted to the pump casing. A staging flow pathway is defined within the gland housing with multiple seal chambers. A seal stage is positioned in each seal chamber, each having a static sealing element and a rotating sealing element, the sealing elements engaging one another to form a fluid-tight seal. A rotor assembly pumps coolant through the gland housing. Fluid passing through the staging flow pathway is accelerated by an acceleration surface of the rotor assembly. An inlet passage feeds coolant fluid into the staging flow pathway and past the acceleration surface.

In a mechanical seal, a stationary-side seal ring (20) is disposed on the high-pressure fluid side of a rotating-side seal ring (21), and fixed to a housing (1) and has sliding surfaces (20a), (20c), and (20d) supporting a rotating shaft (2) in both a radial direction and a thrust direction. The rotating-side seal ring (21) is axially movably fitted by a bellows (25) fitted on the rotating shaft (2). The rotating shaft (2) has an outer peripheral surface (2a) contacting and sliding on the radial sliding surface (20a) of the stationary-side seal ring (20) to be supported radially. Thrust rings (10a) and (10b) are provided between the stationary-side seal ring (20) and the rotating shaft (2), for supporting the rotating shaft (2) in thrust directions. The mechanical seal can eliminate the need for an additional bearing and provide stable performance as a bearing.
