A metallic cartridge 220 is fixed to a housing 600. A metallic fixed ring 210 is configured to slide on an end surface of the rotary ring 110. A metallic bellows 230 presses the fixed ring 210 toward the rotary ring 110, wherein the rotary ring 110 and the sleeve 120 are connected to each other by an annular first connecting part, whereby a radially inner side region and a radially outer side region are separated from each other, one end of the bellows 230 and the fixed ring 210 are connected to each other by an annular second connecting part.

FACE SEAL ARRANGEMENT WITH REDUCED BALANCE RATIO

A face seal arrangement includes a seal seat rotating with the shaft and a non-rotating face seal including a sealing ring. The sealing ring includes a sealing face biased into contact with the seal seat. The sealing ring also has a groove defined remote from the seal face relative to the seal seat. The groove provides a pressure face that will be exposed to high pressure air outward of the bearing compartment. A coil spring biases the seal housing towards the seal seat, such that the sealing face of the sealing ring is biased into contact with seal seat by air pressure against the pressure face, and the coil spring. A balance ratio is defined between an area of the pressure face and an area of the sealing face, the balance ratio is between 0.5 and 0.64.

BUTTERFLY VALVE SEAT AND VALVE SEAT CAVITY

The disclosure relates to a butterfly valve having a valve opening defined through the valve body and including a seat retainer fastened to the valve body; a disc with an optimized profile rotatably mounted within the valve opening; an interstice between the disc and valve body; a valve seat cavity defined in the seat retainer and the valve body; a fluid port defined in the valve body, wherein the fluid port is connected to the valve seat cavity and the interstice.

Hydraulically controllable mechanical seal

A controllable mechanical seal for sealing a shaft rotatable relative to a housing of a device which manipulates a fluid, the seal including: (i) a first face element having a first face surface, wherein the first face element is adapted to rotate with the shaft; (ii) a second face element having a second face surface, wherein the second face element is adapted to be supported within the housing; wherein the first face surface and the second face surface define a gap between the surfaces, physical dimensions of the gap contributing to defining a leakage rate of the fluid through the gap; wherein at least one of the first face element or the second face element includes at least one cavity wholly contained within the face element, the at least one cavity adapted to contain a hydraulic fluid; and wherein the at least one cavity is in fluid communication with at least one hydraulic intensifier and at least one pressure control valve, the at least one hydraulic intensifier being in pressure communication with a source of pressure; (iii) a sensor adapted to generate a signal indicative of the leakage rate; and (iv) a controller responsive to the signal for generating an output; wherein a state of the at least one pressure control valve is adapted to change in response to the controller output in order to increase or decrease the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the at least one cavity, thereby deforming one of the first face surface or the second face surface to adjust the leakage rate.

Radial Sealing System

The invention relates to a sealing assembly for the limitation of fluid flow along a rotatable shaft that is passed through a housing member that separates a high pressure side and a low pressure side, wherein the sealing assembly comprises: a rotor with a sealing surface which essentially extends radially in relation to the shaft, a flushing sealing system that extends between the rotor and the housing member, which sealing system is in contact with both the housing member and the sealing surface of the rotor to effect a sealing effect, wherein the flushing sealing system comprises an elastic sealing member that in use imposes a targeted compression force on the sealing surface.
