PENETRATION SEALING SYSTEM
A sealing system includes a housing with an interior chamber, where the interior chamber includes a mouth. The sealing system also includes a seal positioned adjacent to the mouth of the interior chamber and a plunger configured to move through the seal and into the interior chamber along a longitudinal axis of the sealing system. The plunger is configured to deform the seal from a first position to a second position, where in the first position, the seal has a first shape, and in the second position, the seal has a second shape, different from the first shape.
Sealing Device
A sealing device provides consistent sealing performance in applications where a rotating shaft rotates at high speed. The sealing device 10 seals an annular gap between a rotating shaft 50 and a housing 60, and includes a case 100 fixedly attached to the shaft hole, and a seal ring 200 held in the case 100 such as to be restricted from moving in a rotating direction, and to separate a high-pressure side (H) where pressure rises during use of the sealing device from an opposite low-pressure side (L). The seal ring 200 is disposed such that there is an annular gap between itself and an outer circumferential surface of the rotating shaft 50, and the annular gap is dimensioned such that a fluid pressure of a sealed fluid flowing from the high-pressure side (H) into the low-pressure side (L) causes the Lomakin effect.
Self-Guiding Carbon Seal System
An apparatus has a first member, a shaft rotatable relative to the first member about an axis, and a seal system. The seal system has: a seal carried by the first member and having a seal face; and a seat carried by the shaft and having a seat face in sliding sealing engagement with the seal face. The seal system is a dry face seal system. The seat further includes a section having: an outer diameter surface encircled by the seal; and a rim.
SEAL RING
A circular annular seal ring made from a resin is adapted to be disposed between an outer member and an inner member that rotate relative to each other. The seal ring is disposed in a circumferential groove of the outer member or the inner member to isolate a liquid space from an external space. The seal ring is formed from an elongated and arcuate rod to define a circle by joining ends of the rod, and has a junction formed from the ends. The seal ring has a radial thickness gradually decreasing from two points that are apart from the junction toward the junction. The points are separated from the junction by an angle of not less than 60 degrees and not more than 150 degrees about a central axis of the circle.
Face seal arrangement with reduced balance ratio
A face seal arrangement includes a seal seat rotating with the shaft and a non-rotating face seal including a sealing ring. The sealing ring includes a sealing face biased into contact with the seal seat. The sealing ring also has a groove defined remote from the seal face relative to the seal seat. The groove provides a pressure face that will be exposed to high pressure air outward of the bearing compartment. A coil spring biases the seal housing towards the seal seat, such that the sealing face of the sealing ring is biased into contact with seal seat by air pressure against the pressure face, and the coil spring. A balance ratio is defined between an area of the pressure face and an area of the sealing face, the balance ratio is between 0.5 and 0.64.
Rotary seal
A rotary union for use along an incompressible fluid path between a rotating machine component and a non-rotating machine component includes a non-rotating seal carrier including a non-rotating seal element, which together with the non-rotating seal carrier define a net hydraulic surface on an internal side and a net pneumatic surface on an external side. Contact of an incompressible fluid under pressure with the net hydraulic surface creates a closing force, and contact of a compressible fluid under pressure with the net pneumatic surface creates an opening force.
COMPACT LOW FRICTION HIGH TEMPERATURE SHAFT SEAL AND ATTACHMENT
An assembly and method for assembling a projectile with a compact low friction high temperature shaft seal is provided. The assembly includes an outer shell, a rotating shaft inside the outer shell, and a seal attached to the rotating shaft. The rotating shaft can rotate independently of the outer shell. The seal can seal a gap between the outer shell and the rotating shaft.
Inner diameter rotating drum seal
A seal for placement between a cylindrical shaft and a drum rotatably mounted with respect thereto includes an outside end member with a shaft section, a bore and a gas input connection and an inside end member non-rotatably attached thereto and configured to engage the shaft section. An outer end seal and an inner end seal are slidably and rotatably engaged with the shaft section. A circumferential seal is configured to non-rotatably engage with the outer and inner end seals. An interference fit is formed in the axial direction between an inner assembly, comprising the circumferential seal and the outer and inner end seals, and the outside and inside end members. An interference fit also is formed radially between the circumferential seal and a drum of a mixing machine. A method provides a seal for placement between a cylindrical shaft and a drum rotatably mounted with respect to the shaft.
Wide differential pressure range air riding carbon seal
An exemplary carbon seal assembly generally may include a stator fixable to a static component, such as a mechanical housing of a gas turbine engine, and a rotor fixable to a rotating component, such as a shaft of the gas turbine engine, where the rotating component is rotatable relative to the static component. The carbon seal assembly may also include a carbon ring and a spring attached thereto positioned between the stator and the rotor, where the spring may be configured to move the carbon ring fore and aft between the stator and the rotor. The carbon seal assembly may further include a diaphragm operatively attached to stator and to the carbon ring and spring combination.
