A mechanical seal capable of preventing charge accumulation on a rotary shaft includes a fixed sealing element which is held at an inner periphery of housing members of machines to be installed and has at least a fixed seal ring, and a rotating sealing element which is held at an outer periphery of a rotary shaft rotatably supported in the housing members and has at least a rotating seal ring. A conductive element is provided between the fixed sealing element 10 and the rotary shaft or a rotary shaft member fixed to the rotary shaft.

A mechanical seal includes a pair of seal rings that rotate relative to each other; and a retainer that holds the seal ring. The retainer includes an annular base portion, an annular holding portion that is externally fitted to an outer periphery of the seal ring, and an annular connection portion that connects the base portion and the annular holding portion in an axial direction, and an annular space partially surrounded by the base portion, the annular connection portion, and the annular holding portion is formed between the outer periphery of the seal ring and an inner periphery of the retainer. The retainer has a plurality of beams which are disposed in the annular space to connect the annular base portion and the annular holding portion.

Assembling and disassembling a mechanical seal

A mechanical seal clamping assembly includes a base, a fulcrum, a lever, and a cap. The base supports a mechanical seal. The lever is pivotally coupled to the fulcrum at a first pivot spaced from the base. The cap is coupled to the lever and is movable by the lever with respect to the base. The cap is movable from a first position to a second position. In the first position, the cap is at a first distance away from the base. In the second position, the cap is at a second distance away from the base larger than the first distance. The lever moves the cap from the second position toward the first position to engage the mechanical seal to clamp, between the cap and the base, the mechanical seal to maintain a spring of the mechanical seal compressed during assembly or disassembly of the mechanical seal.

A sealing device 10 that seals the annular gap between a rotating shaft and a housing having a shaft bore into which the rotating shaft is inserted includes a rotating ring unit 100 provided to the rotating shaft and a fixed ring unit 200 provided to the housing. A plurality of protrusions 140 configured to generate an airflow from the rotating ring 130 side to the fixed ring 230 side when the rotating ring unit 100 rotates are provided on the inner peripheral surface of the rotating ring 130.

Sliding seal

The present disclosure relates generally to a sliding seal between two components. The sliding seal includes a first seal section and an uncoupled second seal section which allows the first and second seal sections to move relative to one another during relative movement between the two components. A wave spring disposed between the first and second seal sections biases the first and second seal sections away from one another. A compliant seal is carried by the second seal section. Other combinations of seal sections, wave springs, and compliant seals are also disclosed.

CARBON SEAL ASSEMBLY

A seal assembly includes a housing at least partially defining a seal opening and at least partially surrounding a rotatable shaft. A carbon seal is located at least partially in the seal opening and includes a sealing surface. The rotatable shaft includes a radially facing surface that has a carbide based coating and a diamond-like carbon coating in engagement with the sealing surface on the carbon seal.

In one embodiment, the sealing device includes an axial sleeve having a first end and a second end, a dynamic seal mounted about the first end of the axial sleeve, the dynamic seal including at least one dynamic seal assembly, each of the at least one dynamic seal assemblies including a diffuser and a static steal mounted about the second end of the axial sleeve, and a fixed cartridge housing enclosing at least a portion of the axial sleeve, and an entirety of the dynamic seal and static seal.

Shaft face seal

A sealing arrangement for a shaft according to an example of the present disclosure includes a shaft and a sealing assembly. The sealing assembly includes a seal cartridge that has at least one sealing element. The first and second mating rings are configured to axially locate the seal cartridge with respect to the shaft. The second mating ring includes at least one tang that is configured to extend through at least one corresponding slot in the shaft, the at least one tang is configured to engage a retaining ring to axially retain the second mating ring on the shaft. A gearbox/accessory interface assembly and a method of sealing a gearbox with respect to an accessory are also disclosed.
