A shaft seal assembly may include a stator and a rotor. The rotor may be configured to rotate with a shaft, and the stator may be engaged with a housing. The stator and rotor may be configured with radial and/or axial recesses and/or radial and/or axial projections. These various features may be configured such that the stator and rotor cooperate to form a ring cavity. A cooperating ring may be positioned in the ring cavity, and the cooperating ring may be configured such that is circumferentially expandable so that the cooperating ring changes size and/or shape when it rotates as opposed to when it is not rotating.

SEALING DEVICE

A sealing device disposed between inner and outer members that rotate relative to each other for sealing a gap between the inner and outer members, includes a first sealing member to be mounted on the outer member and a second sealing member to be mounted on the inner member. Water-discharging protrusions protrude in a space between the second sealing member and the first sealing member. The water-discharging protrusions are arranged in a circumferential direction. Each protrusion has an inclined side surface intersecting at an acute angle with a rotational direction in which at least one of the inner and outer members rotates. The first sealing member has an annular labyrinth lip protruding toward the flange part of the second sealing member and is not in contact with the second sealing member, the labyrinth lip overlapping the water-discharging protrusions in radial directions and being disposed radially inside the water-discharging protrusions.

An assembly includes a plurality of seal shoes arranged about an axial centerline in an annular array. The assembly also includes a seal base and a plurality of spring elements. The seal base circumscribes the annular array of the seal shoes. A threaded base aperture extends axially through the seal base. Each of the spring elements is radially between and connects a respective one of the seal shoes with the seal base. The spring elements are formed integral with the seal base and the seal shoes as a unitary body.

A shaft seal assembly comprises a stator configured to engage a housing and a rotor positioned within the stator. The stator may include a main body, a stator inward radial projection extending radially inward from the stator main body, and a collection groove adjacent the stator inward radial projection. The rotor may include a rotor main body and a rotor axial projection extending from the rotor main body. The rotor axial projection may be positioned adjacent a distal end of the stator inward radial projection.

LABYRINTH SEAL BEARING HOUSING

Systems and methods for bearing housings are disclosed. A labyrinth seal bearing housing includes: a first seal element that is structured and arranged to be connected to a wall of a mixing vessel; a second seal element that is structured and arranged to be connected to a rotatable shaft; and a bearing support that is structured and arranged to be connected to the first seal element. The second seal element is configured to rotate relative to the first seal element and the bearing support. The first seal element and the second seal element are structured and arranged to create a tortuous flow path between an exterior and an interior of the mixing vessel.

Bearing isolator for extreme conditions

A bearing isolator having a simple design and made from low-cost materials but which performs comparably to other higher-cost bearing isolators is described. The bearing isolator generally includes a rotor having a snap fit feature protruding from a radially-oriented flange and a stator having a snap fit feature recess for receiving the snap fit feature to thereby join together the stator and rotor without need for, e.g., a separate unitizing element. Furthermore, the rotor and/or stator can be made from lost cost material, such as a nylon/moly material. In some embodiments, the stator further includes a lip seal biased against the radially-oriented flange of the rotor, which, when combined with the labyrinth passage formed at least in part by the snap fit feature and snap fit feature recess, helps to prevent egress and ingress of lubricant and/or contaminates.

Flooded metallic bearing isolator

A bearing isolator capable of operating under flooded conditions is disclosed. The bearing isolator can include a stator, a rotor, a unitizing element and a sealing element, the stator and rotor form a cavity in which the unitizing element is disposed, and features of the unitizing element with features of the stator and rotor to ensure the stator and rotor stay together while still maintaining a gap between the two components to avoid metal on metal contact. The sealing element resides against a surface of the stator and includes a radially-inward extending lip seal that rides against a running surface of the rotor for improved sealing.
