FLUID INJECTION
The present invention generally relates to systems and methods for the control of fluids and, in some cases, to systems and methods for flowing a fluid into and/or out of other fluids. As examples, fluid may be injected into a droplet contained within a fluidic channel, or a fluid may be injected into a fluidic channel to create a droplet. In some embodiments, electrodes may be used to apply an electric field to one or more fluidic channels, e.g., proximate an intersection of at least two fluidic channels. For instance, a first fluid may be urged into and/or out of a second fluid, facilitated by the electric field. The electric field, in some cases, may disrupt an interface between a first fluid and at least one other fluid. Properties such as the volume, flow rate, etc. of a first fluid being urged into and/or out of a second fluid can be controlled by controlling various properties of the fluid and/or a fluidic droplet, for example curvature of the fluidic droplet, and/or controlling the applied electric field.

A valve system includes an in-line valve sized to fit within a flow channel including a capsule having a flexible outer shell containing an internal medium encapsulated by the outer shell, the medium including a plurality of magnetic particles; and a magnetic field source disposed about the exterior wall of the channel.
MICROFLUIDIC VALVES
A microfluidic valve may include a first portion of a liquid conduit to contain a fluid, a second portion of the liquid conduit to contain a liquid and a constriction between the first portion and the second portion and across which a capillary meniscus is to form between the fluid and liquid, the constriction comprising an edge along a ceiling of the constriction.

Methods and systems for enhanced microfluidic processing
Methods and systems are provided for a microfluidic cartridge including a high performance actuator useful for analyte detection, labeling and analysis. Microfluidic processing systems are to carry out chemical or biochemical reactions, or sequences of reactions, with small volumes (typically between 1 microliter and 10 milliliters) of reactants and products. A microfluidic processing system can comprise a network of tubes interfaced with discrete components such as valves and sensors, or an integrated device made of plastic, glass, metal, or other materials, or a combination of materials, with components such as valves and sensors built into the device and connected by flow passageways formed in the material.
Micro Electrostatic Actuated Pneumatic Driven Motor
Described is an electrically actuated, pneumatic driven motor. The pneumatic driven motor includes a body having first and second surfaces, the body having a chamber defined by an interior wall, a displacement cavity, and a passage that fluidly couples the displacement cavity to the chamber, a bleeder port and a bleeder port passage that fluidly couples the bleeder port to the chamber, a valve disposed in the passage between the displacement cavity and the chamber, an annular pushrod mechanism coupled to the valve, the annular pushrod mechanism having a pair of pawls that protrude from an inner surface of the annular pushrod mechanism, an axle disposed in the chamber; and a motor gear disposed about the axle, the motor gear having a plurality of teeth that selectively engage with the pawls on the pushrod mechanism according to displacement of the annular pushrod mechanism.
SYSTEMS, METHODS AND HYDROGELS FOR CELL CULTURE AND ANALYSIS
The present invention relates to hydrogels and polymers suitable as building blocks for hydrogels as well as advantageous methods for encapsulating cells and/or particles. Also provided are kits and methods for producing the hydrogels.
SYSTEMS, METHODS AND HYDROGELS FOR CELL CULTURE AND ANALYSIS
The invention relates to a microfabricated valve (10), comprising a first channel (11), a second channel (12) and a connection channel (13). The connection channel (13) connects the first channel (11) and the second channel (12). The microfabricated valve further comprises a valve portion (14) arranged within the connection channel (13), wherein the valve portion (14) is adapted to selectively open and close the connection channel (13). Moreover the invention relates to a method comprising the steps: inserting the first channel (11) into the first layer (21), inserting the second channel (12) into the third layer (23), inserting the connection channel (13) with the valve portion (14) into the second layer (22), and then arranging the second layer (22) between the first layer (21) and the third layer (23). The invention relates furthermore to a test device, in particular for a biological application and in particular a method for performing a biological test cycle.
PROGRAMMABLE HYDRAULIC RESISTOR ARRAY FOR MICROFLUIDIC CHIPS
Embodiments of the invention provide a microfluidic chip having microfluidic structures formed on a surface. The structures form an input channel, an output channel, auxiliary channels, and a hydraulic resistor structure connecting the input channel to the output channel via the auxiliary channels. The resistor structure includes N flow resistor portions (N2), which are connected to the auxiliary channels. The chip further includes at least N1 actuatable valves, which are arranged in respective ones of the auxiliary channels. The actuation state of the valves can determine the effective hydraulic resistance of the resistor structure. The valves can be electrogates, each including a liquid-pinning trench arranged in a respective one of the auxiliary channels that define a flow path for a liquid introduced therein, so as to form an opening that extends across said flow path. Each electrogate can further include an electrode extending across the flow path.
MICRO CHANNEL STRUCTURE
A micro channel structure includes a substrate, a supporting layer, a valve layer, a second insulation layer, a vibration layer and a bonding-pad layer. A flow channel is formed on the substrate. A conductive part and a movable part are formed on the supporting layer and the valve layer, respectively. A first chamber is formed at the interior of a base part and communicates to the hollow aperture. A supporting part is formed on the second insulation layer. A second chamber is formed at the interior of the supporting layer and communicates to the first chamber through the hollow aperture. A suspension part is formed on the vibration layer. By providing driving power sources having different phases to the bonding-pad layer, the suspension part moves upwardly and downwardly, and a relative displacement is generated between the movable part and the conductive part, to achieve fluid transportation.
