20170138513 · 2017-05-18 ·

Safety hoses protected by wire mesh and an apparatus for manufacturing them are disclosed. The hose assembly has an inner flexible tube, wrapped with two helices made of ribbons of woven, wire mesh. An outer flexible tube is fitted over the helixes. The ribbon is woven from metal fibers having a diameter of less than 0.20 mm and open apertures of less than 0.45 mm. The ribbon is preferably made of bias-cut material and the pitch of the helixes is such that the warp threads of the ribbons overlap at an angle between 15 and 33 degrees. Alternately the hose may be ribbon braided, having two or more ribbons of woven wire mesh braided together over the inner tube. A modified May pole braiding machine to accomplish such ribbon braiding is disclosed.

Hoses include an inner tube, a reinforcement layer disposed outwardly from the inner tube, and a cover layer disposed outwardly from the reinforcement layer, where the cover layer and/or the inner tube include(s) a composition having a sustainable content. The composition includes one or more ethylene derived sustainable polymers. The one or more ethylene derived sustainable polymers is formed of ethylene monomer derived from one or more renewable sources. The one or more ethylene derived sustainable polymers may be one or more of PVC sustainable polymer, EPDM sustainable polymer and EPR sustainable polymer.

Hose, method for manufacturing hose, and hydraulic pump

Provided are a hose excelling in a lightweight property and in fatigue fracture resistance, a method for manufacturing the hose, and a hydraulic pump. The hose includes a tube, an interior of the tube being hollow, continuous carbon fibers and/or continuous glass fibers wound around an outer circumference of the tube, and a thermosetting resin present external to the tube. The thermosetting resin has an elastic modulus from 0.5 to 10 MPa, and the continuous carbon fibers and/or continuous glass fibers are impregnated with at least a part of the thermosetting resin. The elastic modulus of the thermosetting resin is a numeric value determined by: heating the thermosetting resin for 2 hours at a curing temperature of the thermosetting resin; then subjecting the thermosetting resin to thermoregulation for two weeks under a condition of a temperature of 23 C. and a relative humidity of 55%; and then performing a measurement in accordance with JIS K7161:2019.
